notes
...born into a world of chaos and confusion, Sandra Lauren reflects on the simplicity of her existence and the heartache she's encountered in love and loss. "Flowers&Wounds" is gentle and human although it maintains the aggression and desperation that fueled much of the album. There are no answers in the lyrics, and no quest of greatness in the music...but it's as honest as they come...

what a wonderful cd this is!...I just heard her new song on "MySpace" and it shows such growth! I can't wait for that one!
There are those Wyoming relatives to consider
author: Leslie HoganMy baby niece, whom I haven't seen in nine years, turns out to be hugely talently (and I even earned the rarely bestowed epithet in high school/college of "good taste in music for a girl") and I must pass her talent on to my remaining still-musically hip friends, such as they are! Although I wish she would take the word "country" out of her genre, since it is off-putting to those of us who consider ourselves "above that." There are those Wyoming relatives to consider, it could be taken in a "great moments in white trash" kind of way. Anyway, she has no twang, and there are no references to "my man's a prick but the lord says I must remain at his side.
fantastic, affectionate, melancholic, life-affirming, and a broken nose
author: harry p. siouxthis is one of those albums that can leave you feeling a bit weepy...i had the pleasure of visiting (uninvited of course) the recording studio when ms. sandra lauren was recording and I can assure you that there were real conflicts...the room was in such shambles that i believe that only the songs were keeping the wooden beams from buckling and snapping ...as a result this album explores the desperation of human emotion and all things that come along with it...ms. lauren is a gifted songwriter to say the least and rumor has it that these songs really are close to being her first batch of songs...this does not feel like a first album! if more artists put their guts into singing and writing songs like ms. lauren the music world would get a much needed kick in the ass...there is no cop out on this album...the songs are fantastic, the singing is heartfelt, the mood is great...and it is the songs themselves that rise out of the dust to bring you the ghostly figure that stands before you when hearing these little known gems...buy the album and send a letter to notify your friends...Sandra Lauren is here to stay.
Beauty
author: Matt SneedHaving watched the craziness that this music was born out of...having watched sandra lay in her bed and play me these songs before they hit tape...having learned and lived and fallen in love with every one of these stories first-hand...this record is proof to me of something that I've wondered at for years...beauty really can grow from the dirtiest and most decadent of places...you took our mess, squeezed it with a bit of love and came out with roses

"Flowers & Wounds" is a a fantastic debut from an artist with much to say...From "Sleep Where I Stand" to "Blood of the Lamb", it's a perfect listen..Equal parts hope and despair, this record is among the best I've heard recently, and it only makes me want to hear wht she's gonna do next!
