notes
Sandin Wilson's Electric and Fretless bass and vocals have been heard all over the Pacific Northwest, and around the world.
From his days with pop/rock chart busting Geffen/CBS/Sony recording artists, "Quarterflash", Atlantic recording artists,"Nushooz", Jazz Fusion Guitarist - Cal Scott, Funkster - Calvin Walker Band and several highly acclaimed CD's with Narada recording artist, Michael Gettle, it's obvious this versatile musician has got his basses covered.
Much in demand as a studio session Bassist, Sandin has recorded on over 100 local and national CD's & recordings. At 16 he played Carnegie Hall with "America's Youth in Concert" and has opened for entertainers such as; Jay Leno, Level 42, Phoebe Snow, The Jazz Crusaders, Dan Reed Network, The Neville Brothers, to name just a few.
Sandin's CD debut "Into My World" is an impressive achievement, something few musicians realize in their lifetime. As Executive Producer Jimmy Haslip of the Grammy Award Winning "Yellowjackets" puts it,
"Sandin is a fantastic bassist and vocalist with a lot of soul".
With his first CD project, Sandin has clearly established himself as a songwriter, composer, and arranger of considerable talent and musical reach.
On his debut solo project, Sandin is joined by some of the nations finest musicians.
Saxophone - Bob Sheppard and Timothy Bryson
Acoustic Piano - Russell Ferrante and Tom Grant
Trumpet/Flugelhorn - Paul Mazzio
Trombone - Jeff Usitello
Drums - Carlton Jackson and Reinhardt Meltz
Guitar - Jay Koder, Doug Fraser and John Standefer
Keyboard - Barry Aiken and Jim Fischer
Sandin's music is a unique blend of original Urban Funk/Jazz Instrumentals, melody rich vocal tunes, and beautiful lush ballads.
Beautiful bass melodies, mixed with world-class Paul Mazzio's muted trumpet, make for a unique and breathtaking sound.
Sandin's bass work, arrangements, and distinctive vocals are highlighted throughout the CD. On one cut, listeners get a special treat when Sandin teams up with Jimmy Haslip to produce an incredible remake of Lee Ritenour's 1980 hit, "Is It You?".
"Contemporary music for sophisticated ears."

Awesome live recording of this powerful group
author: John MooneySandin: Since they arrived, your CDs have played in my car, home, and even on my CPU (albeit at low level) at work. You and the various boys put out a remarkably clean, pure sound that strikes me as a sweetly soulful contemporary funk. Nice work, old boy. You indeed are an impressive, top-shelf pro and have skillfully surrounded yourself with others at that level for these recordings. Although this isn't the kind of jazz I'm naturally drawn to, I very much appreciate the energy and polish of the performances. There's beauty in them thar notes, alrighty. So, yes, I've been enjoying your music. Thanks for asking and thanks for the superb music. I look forward to catching you live at Jimmy Mak's sometime. Yours, --John

So many layers....it's like gourmet cooking....the presentation, the initial taste, the substance, the finish...the subtle details....... AWESOME!...............
very accomplished American Bassist/vocalist,- absolutely advisable
author: Peggy Thiele - "Jazzdimensions" -GermanySandin Wilson is an American bassist. He has played on more than one hundred studio productions and has opened for groups such as , Level 42, The Jazz Crusaders, and The neville Brothers. "Into My World " is his solo Debut, which is already very successful in the USA, On this record, He is accompanied by a number of prominent American musicians. Above all, Trumpet and Flugelhorn player Paul Mazzio and the Saxophonists, Bob Sheppard and Timothy Bryson are mentioned, who all tend to let forget with their groovy soli that this is not their album, but that of the bassist. However, at the latest, when Sandin wilson Sings, (unfortunately, only three times on the recording), he brings himself astonishingly, impressively back into memory again. "Into My World" has become a pleasing debut album whose biggest strength lies in the skill of the single musicians. Absolutely advisable for listening at work, sport, or play, or to whistle on long drives.
Loved it so much, we put him on our compilation Cd for October
author: Ron Garrant - "Bassics" MagazineWe were impressed with the fact that Jimmy Haslip was involved with Sandin's Debut CD, and upon hearing the music realized why. The music is wonderful and fresh, more bassists should do what Sandin has done. See Sandin at the Namm show this January with JoeyGmusic.com basses from NewYork!!
high musical content, voice, and bass work very memorable
Best Cd I have bought all year!
author: Russ CheathamI received the CD yesterday and just listened to the whole disc during my morning workout. Your CD is one of the best I've bought this year, man you can really CAN play and you have a great voice!.
Yellowjackets, Ricky peterson, Mr Mister, Dave Weckl all rolled into one
author: Mark DeAnda - Program director - KRUZ Santa Barbara, CAIt's nice to hear excellent bass work on Sandin's debut release. Quite frankly, (Candlelight, Olympus, and Emit Al)hold up nicely to anything out there in the contemporary jazz market today. And what a voice, Beautiful!!
One of the Most musical bassist 's and vocalists recording today
author: Michael Gettel - Narada Recording artistOn Sandin's debut outing, he not only proves his vocal and songwriting prowess, but at the core of every tune, he is the most musical and soulful bass player I've ever heard.
Simply put........ AWESOME!!!!
author: paul shapardWhat a talented artist. I mean ARTEEEST! Sandin's CD paints for us many different types of landscapes. The variety of different types of songs keeps us refreshed and excited for the next song to begin. This CD never gets old. Show me a better bass player with a better voice! Won't happen. Sandin should be put on everybody's festival, concert, and club list. Smokin' band, fun to listen to, and a pleasure to watch! Great production, producer, and musicians. I can't wait for the next CD!
Lead bassman goes out front and center and stretches out
author: S P Clarke "Twolouies Magazine"Two years in the making, this album is an obvious labor of love, designed to bring Wilson the critical attention that has always been his due. The results are impeccably precise in execution, expertly detailed, flawlessly rendered, and perfect for the Adult contemporary radio formats throughout the world. With "Into My World", Wilson is afforded the opportunity to stand front and center, and as lead bassist, Sandin Demonstrates the sort of abilities and techniques upon which most Bassists can only marvel and dream.
Fresh new jazz!!
author: Jon BooneThis CD has been stuck in my car player for days now! I can't stop listening to it. This has to be the freshest new jazz on the scene today. Being a bassist myself I know a good one when I hear one. This guy kicks!
Contemporary Jazz in the tradition of the "Yellowjackets", "Spyro Gyra"
author: Wayne ThompsonA world class bassist/composer,with a great singing voice, wilson has assembled a talented cast for this, his inaugural CD as a leader. The final selection, a short "walk in the park", showcases wilson's skill as a bassist and is further evidence to support what Jimmy Haslip has said about him, ...."A fantastic bassist and vocalist with a lot of soul"! four**** stars Wayne Thompson - Jazzscene Magazine
Great music, love to listen. Very relaxing.
author: Margaret ClubbThis music is the kind of music to kick off your shoes, put up your feet, lean back and let the sounds just flow over you. Each choice of song is different, keeps you interested in what will be coming up next, because the mix of the music is not general, there is a nice blend of vocals and instrumentals. This CD is a magnificent creation and I am glad I own one!!
Excellent songs, stellar Musicianship, killer voice, and very listenable over,
author: Don Campbell...OregonianWhat can I say, one of the coolest Cd's I have heard in a long time. great arrangements and Jimmy Haslip's signature of approval doesn't hurt one bit!!
