Sam Thomas has been playing wind instruments for over 20 years. He performs on the Highland Bagpipes, clarinet, tinwhistle, and alto recorder. In the past, Sam played clarinet in the University of Notre Dame Marching Band, ND Concert Band, and ND Symphony Orchestra. His musical experience also includes professional bands in Ohio and Indiana. Sam currently assists in the music ministry for the Gloria Dei choir in Carmel, Indiana.
In recent solo bagpipe competitions, Sam has won prizes at these Highland Games:
-St. Louis Highland Games, Saint Louis, MO (2 medals)
-St. Andrews Highland Games, Chicago, IL (1 medal)
-Carrollton, Kentucky Highland Games (2 medals)
-Glasgow, Kentucky Highland Games (2 medals)
-Highland Games of Louisiana (1 medal)
-Mississippi Highland Games (1 medal)
