MTV's "Celebrity: Undercover" selected 8 of the 13 tracks for all of their 2001 episodes!!!!!
Melodic modern rock mixed with high energy funk.
"Really gorgeous stuff from Chapel-Rock - sweet as honey to pounding rap-like riffs"-(Raymond M. Lane, Washington Times)
SAM'S HOUSE IS ON FIRE!...with a high energy alternative funk sound that is electrifying audiences everywhere.
Guitarist Alan Scott, bassist Steve Sidley and drummer Teddy Ray combine their rock and soul influences to bring jaw-dropping musicianship, booty-shaking grooves, tight harmonies and an undeniably melodic approach to their well-crafted songs.
College Music Journal Weekly says, "The band's songs are smart and tight...heaping scoops of soulful rock evoke images of early Red Hot Chili Peppers and Truth and Soul - era Fishbone." (CMJ 5/17/99)
In late 1998 Life Without Stars was completed. This CD contains eleven original songs engineered, written, performed and produced by Sam's House, This album has received praise from CMJ as well as attention from major labels and college and independent radio programmers. Their most recent recording, Live It Up, is available now! The word is out, there can be no doubt, there's a revolution goin' on over at SAM'S HOUSE.
MEET THE BAND:
ALAN SCOTT (guitar, vocals)
Alan has been an active performer and songwriter since 1984. His songwriting and guitar mastery have won him a place on the 1991 Washington Area Music Awards Compilation CD as well as a demo deal with MCA records in 1994. His songs have also been featured on Annie Sidley's debut CD Other Side of the Sun and The True's self-titled CD. Mike Joyce from the Washington Post said, of Alan, when playing with Annie Sidley, "Some of the most tunefully appealing songs were written by guitarist Alan Scott". Alan's songs have been heard on WHFS, DC101, and WTRI. Kirk McKewen at 98 Rock described Alan's songs as "funkier than a big hairy dog". Sam's House is the Shit
author: StefanoSam's House is like old Red Hot Chili Peppers but with a sicker bassist The Rhythm behind Sam's House is unmatched. Songs like your mistake and mojo nation are incredible
Mr. Awesomeface
author: FabianAllthough I haven't had the pleasure to actually listen to any of their songs, Teddy Ray was my drum teacher when I was on exchange in the US last year. And this man is simply nuts. Having him as my tutor was doubtlessly downright incredible. This man qualifies and exceeds the rank of ninja. By far. And if he willingly joined a band with two other musicians, then it goes without saying that they must be able to bring the noise just as hardcore as him. Go buy the record if you find it. They're just that awesome.
This c.d. is awesome! I had already heard most of the songs, as I have seen Sam's House in concert a few times. The sound is so rich, and it almost sounds like there are more than three musucians playing. Can't wait for the next C.D. Rock on Sam's House!

author: KurtThis disk is great...just plain kickin'.
Damn Good
author: BobThis CD is great. Major labels must be on crack or sometin not to see them. Every track is good, the production is tight, the band is tight, the lyrics are good, the riffs are great, the solos are great. Every player in this band is amazing on this album and in general. Steve Sidleys funky bass and backbeat. Alan Scotts melodic guitar picking, smooth vocals, and awesome soloing, Teddy Rays awesome drum beats, and his coolness amplifies how awesome he is by a billion. Straight up, i cant find any flaws in this album. Its one of the closest things to perfection that ive heard. Buy it, listen to it, love it.
Great man, great musician, great band
author: John WelsbyAlan Scott was my guitar teacher for over two and a half years and I have progressed in leaps and bounds under his tutelage. I've seen him in action and truly he is a fantastic guitarist and well as one of the most pleasant people you could ever hope to meet. "Life Without Stars" is a great CD, and I am fortunate enough to have a signed copy (although somehow the personalisation has magically changed from "To John" to "To Paula". . .freaky). All the songs are new and interesting, combining the band's amazing musical talent with quiet soul and rockin' funk. This band deserves its big break, so buy the CD and help them out -- you won't be disappointed.
Must have rock-funk CD! Takes you away before you know it.
author: Timon De La PlayaNever heard of this band before they set up in a bar where I was eating. They blow you away! 3-man sound and musicality that is reminiscent of The Police and Jimi Hendrix. Sound is tighter than a bull's ass in fly season with amazing melodic breadth, tight harmonies and instrumental skill. This CD grows on you and you won't get it out of your mind soon. Live, they are even more amazing. One day a label will wise up to these guys!
Similarities to Compare to
author: DaveinohioI was very surprised to enjoy this whole CD. The first thought was that they were a 311 knock off, but some of the later grooves settle down, and really show the talent of the songwriting, and singer. If you like 311, or O.A.R. you'll find the backbeat of this CD appealing and will find it difficult to take it out of the player.
Nice bass!!
author: JeffVery nice bass!! Tight rhythm section!
So Funky I have to light a match!
author: Ted WhitmoreLive It Up by Sams House is so funky i have to light a match! I have been following this band since i saw them in NY as The True. They now have a tight, mature, melodic and addictive groove. This band is world class by any ones standards. Get a taste before the majors wise up and jump on the Sams house band wagon. The more you listen the more you need to listen to Live It Up. Ted Whitmore Bassist Providence, RI
