Imagine Sam Cooke in the studio with some of todays upcoming producers. Thats what this kind of reminds me of. it certainly has the old school feel of Classic R&B but in today's world it would be classified as Soul b/c of the distinct undertones.

notes
At the early age of four years old Sam was exposed to Sam Cooke & Al Green along with a few other Gospel artists every morning before church (where he'd watch other musicians play for his father, the pastor. What we now refer to as old school music was just music to Sam; so it isn’t hard to see where he gets his influences from. It also isn’t hard to tell that music is home for him and that he’s destined to do it! At the age of six, Sam began playing the guitar. Playing the guitar gave Sam something to look forward to while going to church, when he was too young to understand the depth of his father’s work. What he thought of as fun & enjoyment actually became the musical boot-camp where his development began. He played in church so frequently that he learned & developed at an accelerated rate. Sam realized the power and impact music had on people in church; this ultimately became the foundation of Sam's outlook on music & the purpose and reason that he was blessed with a gift of music. By age 9 he was known as one of the church’s most requested musicians in the entire Church District; for solos in the choir and as a guitarist. His ability to easily catch on to any sound and perform various styles of song composition with little or no practice of wowed people of all ages .By age 13 he was appointed music director of his church. By this time Sam began to listen to all types of music and began to draw influences from a variety of artists in the early 90’s; 2pac, Notorious B.I.G., Jodeci, Boyz II Men, to name a few; but he always stayed in touch with the old school music of the late 60's & 70's due to the influence of his parents at home.During his high school years Sam became heavily involved in athletics, playing basketball, which caused him to somewhat lose his appreciation & passion for music.
After high school, Sam earned a scholarship to play college basketball. Sam later suffered a severe knee injury, which derailed his dreams of becoming a professional basketball player. Somewhat depressed by the injury; Sam was lost for a while and later turned back to music when he realized that his athletic career was over. Sam met a few local R&B artist who advised him to seriously consider music as a career after hearing him sing. Sam quickly separated himself from the local artist because of his ability to sing & play guitar with soul & conviction. Music became Sam's only constant passion & focus. Sam then realized that he had been wasting his time chasing basketball; his gift was clearly music! At this point he determined that music was ultimately wanted to do. Since that moment Sam has worked tirelessly at his craft; as a musician, artist, singer, writer, and performer. He has co-wrote and co-produced on several albums, before completing his own. These experiences have allowed Sam to develop himself into his own artist while still drawing from the many influences and experiences he encountered during his lifetime. He feels this album (“Nothing on the Radio”) reflects his life’s experiences. He aims to make timeless music, and inspire anyone and everyone through his music. He doesn’t target a specific demographic. “Nothing On the Radio” provides more than entertainment & breaks away from the genre focused music prevalent today.
This album gives a peak of what he's capable of as artist. Sam wrote, arranged & produced his entire album. This album proves to be a Soulful Offering & bridge from the 60's soul music to now. When racism was prevalent and segregation was the norm Soul music brought people together. In like fashion Sam's hopes that his music will provide much more than entertainment. In a time where most of today’s R&B & Soul artist are so heavily influenced & fused by Hip-Hop music or replaced by watered-down pop icons with little or no message at all, the radio airwaves continue to be over flooded with Soul-less music. Sam is constantly striving to restore the foundation of the most influential genre of music on planet earth, “Soul Music”. The essential elements that Soul Music provided helped to shape & impact the culture & sub-cultures across the world since the beginning of time to this present day. Today's listening audience now crave & seek for an alternative from the sometimes over hyped artist of today. “Nothing On the Radio” provides a breath of fresh air to music lovers of any genre.

A Star Is Born!
author: Rashawn.DI first heard about Sam Letric on accident by viewing some of his Sam Cooke covers on youtube.com. After hearing him do a terrific job on some of Sam Cookes tunes I decided to look him up. I agree with Daryl Dingle's comments. "Nothing On The Radio" is solid all the way through.
Best New Artist
author: Daryl DingleMan, this has got to be the best new artist. You can hear the old school influnces, but with a modern day feel. I can honestly say he sounds like no one in particular. Sam Letric is himself. His album spaeks on a variety of topics ranging, from attraction, having your heart broken, casual relationships, dancing and enjoying yourself, Love for music, respect to the old school, recovering from a broken heart, the troubles that come along with R&B stardum, maintaing a relationship, and loving and appreciating the value of a woman. Sam Letric is one of the most well-rounded artist I've heard in a while, and I honestly can't compare him to any one person in the industry. This album is one of the best kept secrets of the year. It gets better and better everytime you listen to it. The content of the lyrics and soulful music is refreshing. It's the old/new sound. He has convinced me that R&B is still alive. The album concept is brilliant "Nothing on the Radio." If you love real R&B; you've got to get this album.
