The Same Shape formed in 2004 out of a weekly open jam held in California's Central Valley. The Same Shape boys record and produce their own records and prefer to record every instrument live to tape. After seeing the band live, you will appreciate this fact as their shows and recordings exude an explosive energy. Their first record was recorded in a day and a half, testament to their opinion that
capturing the energy of a song is just as important as capturing a perfect performance. Many of the takes were not perfect, yet they kept them anyway and this is what you hear on their album: Four guys in a room, making music. The album was released in 2005 by The Same Shape independently. The guys pooled the money they made from their live shows to pay for the album duplication and some post-production and mastering. The band is currently taking a break from touring to record their second album, also being self-released.

    the CD is fantastic!!!! incredible songs, incredible riffs, and incredible hooks! this is what ever great band was when they were great. this is the kind of sound that you wish yer favorites bands still produced. that first flush of longing and committment to themsleves and the thing they do. they havent gotten tired of each other. they havent gone corporate (although given the chance wouldnt be nice to ghet that money). they are hungry. and they mean it! it just is like that first anything that drove you wild to do it again! this is the complete package. get this CD befor these guys make it huge and then money fucks it up.

    I don't buy many CDs because I am a broke musician myself, but when I heard this it knocked me out and I had to have it - this is the true spirit of rock and roll. Intelligent, passionate, infectious, inspiring, and all-around beautiful. And live to tape! Bravo! Buy this CD! Now!

    Hard to describe how good this is......it is amazingly fluid and yet has an absolute wonderful edge to it! There are a few rare cds that one could listen to three times consecutively and this is one of them. I found myself repeating it several times because you can't fully take any one song in after hearing it only once! It also speaks to such a variety of music lovers that it could very possibly be loved by All!!! Thanks for bringing this music to my ears.

    The Same Shape is a truly unique rock band with a fantastic blend of alternative, blues, rock, and emotion that hits home the first time and 100th time you hear them. This album is packed with energy and creativity but most importantly, it stays TRUE. You'll know what I mean when you listen to it.     The entire CD is mindblowing, but I'm going to focus on #6 for this review. Heat is just that:hot. It starts with a slow sizzle from the lead guitar; slow enough to make you want more, fast enough to get your head bobbing before the rest of band starts in. A genuis mix of rock, blues and funk, I just can't pin down what type of music this is for my friends, other than to simply play it for them and let them bob thier own heads to it.

    I wasn't sure what to expect when I put my order in. A friend sent me a link to the CDBaby page and the sounds of the demo tracks seemed good enough so I bought it and I really like it. This is why I love CDBaby. To find an unsigned band as good as this one is crazy. Check out the songs and buy this disc. Support the local scene wherever it may be. I think they are from Fresno.

    Let me see,where can I start when it comes to this album,hmmm? Well,quite honestly this is modern rock music in it's most beautiful form. Fresh. Sincere. Creative. Powerful.Unteathered from the numbness of most current rock music.It's full of an energy that is inspiring and freeing whenever it's being listened to. The songs are fluid and stream with passion down to the smallest tap of a cymbal. To use the old cliche`"Labor of love" would almost seem out of place if it were not obviously true.I can feel how much they laid themselves down and poured out so much creativity and passion into this c.d. The long and short of it is....it's what every artist labors to make,beautiful art. ~timmy...

    This CD enabled me to reach for the stars. Songs such as "Run" and "here and now" are nore than your run of the mill rockopera/anthem. They produce euphoric temptions sprinkled with glee. If your down, or up, or mad, or glad, this CD is good for all occasions. No it is not from RONCO but it should be, cuz this thing does everything. "Remeber set it and forget it"..ohh yeah and buy the damn thing too
