Salt River
Salt River, “folk singers in the purest sense” (Face Magazine), consists of Lee Hosack, Mike and Beverly Rogers and Cathy King. They are based in the seacoast area of Maine and perform traditional and original music reflecting the lifestyle and people of New England. Their folk/blues style is accented by their vocal harmonies and Mike’s signature harmonica. The group’s close friendship and love of music are reflected in their performances and on their CDs, “Lookin’ Back” and “Reflection” (released July 2007). The newest member of the band, Cathy King has played upright bass with Salt River for the past three years, first as a guest with the Trio, then becoming an official member in 2005. She also sings and plays bass and rhythm guitar in bluegrass and old time country music groups with friends including the York River Ramblers.
Salt River’s latest CD, “Reflection” is preceded by “Evenin’ Tide” and “Lookin’ Back” and are available at their performances.
Salt River (Trio) was selected as the sole representative for the State of Maine at the New England Artists’ Congress held in Woodstock, Vermont. Mike and Bev are members of the Maine Arts Commission Touring Roster and the New England Foundation for the Arts and VSA arts NH and VSA arts ME.
