As we approached the new Millennium in 1999, I wanted to mark the event by dedicating it to the Lord with ANNO DOMINI, a Mass for the Millennium. Since that time, the Mass was translated into various languages, celebrated around Europe, in the USA and Latin America, and released in Spanish.

At our many youth events around the USA, specially the diocesan youth rallies, I became aware of the need for a different translation - to modern Teen culture. So here is TEEN MASS for the Millennium. Gone are the orchestras and monks and classical voices, in favor of a more familiar guitar drums sound - in fact, the instrumentation of a typical Teen Mass. This Teen Mass has already begun to be celebrated at youth events, and I hope it will encourage young people in worship for many years to come.

    The music for each part of the Mass is all very melodic; it features sometimes sparse but always very pretty instrumentation, making the songs both great to listen to and also very reverent for the Mass setting. Everything is beautifully sung, and the later tracks include a very moving piano background. This Mass is catchy and teen-oriented, but is also nicely understated -- not overbearing or too rock-ish. It was clearly written to subtly highlight each part in the Mass, as liturgical music should. An all-around awesome cd!
