VooDoo Bop is the new cd release by longtime Hammond B3 artisr Sam Salomone. This album features Sam's influences: New Orleans R&B, Jazz and Blues. The disc was recorded live in the studio without overdubs. The last two tracks were recorded live at the Iowa State Fair in 2003. Most of the tunes are originals and feature top Des Moines area musicians. The B3 is Sam's first love and he has been playing it stadily over the last 40 years. Some of the musicians Sam has performed or recorded with include San Francisco area guitarist Calvin Keys, trumpeters Bobby Shew and Clark Terry, NY sax great Dick Oatts, the legendary Brother Jack McDuff and others. Sam was also a member of the Des Moines Big Band and recorded 4 albums with that group. Sam's first cd featured nationally known alto saxophonist Richie Cole.
