Sal G, at an early age, was playing saxophone professionally. He at 18 yrs. old, as a featured soloist with the Ellenville Jazz Ensemble , performed opposite Dizzy Gillespie at the 1982 Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. At 20 yrs. old, he performed at the famed Village Vangaurd jazz club in N.Y.C. with Larry Coryell, Albert Dailey, Buster Williams, and Billy Hart. He later went on to perform and record with other great jazz artists' such as Miles Davis, George Gruntz, Arturo Sandoval, Elvin Jones, The Gil Evans Orchestra, and many others. His jazz festival appearances in the U.S. and abroad have included Saratoga, JVC, Lugano, Berlin, and numerous others. One famed performance, along with a record and a film, was that of the 1991 Montreux Jazz Festival featuring Miles Davis with Quincy Jones conducting. This concert went on to be the historical and Grammy award winning record "Miles Davis And Quincy Jones : Live At Montreux". Sal also, while finishing a 2 1/2 year run with Maynard Ferguson, had the distinct honor and pleasure of playing a command performance for the King of Thailand in Bangkok.
Sal's career has not only included famous jazz artists', but his diversified sax style has led him to perform with many pop artists' also, including a 5 year stint with The Rascals. He has also performed and recorded with famous latin music artists' such as Glenn Monroig in Puerto Rico.
Through all of these musical experiences, Sal Giorgianni has crafted his own style of saxophone playing that stands on its' own.

author: Dawn GineseWhere do you go when you've lost touch of a great musician. "CDbaby" of course. Sal played on my husband and my CD way back in the late 80's. I have purchase 2 today because when I surprise my husband with finding Sal, he will want to take my copy. Remember to buy more, not copy! To hear a great little song about that search here at CDbaby for The Singing Nurse and click "Don't You Copy Me" Sal has done a great job on this CD can't wait to hear the complete CD. Keep Singing/Playing, Dawn Ginese, The Singing Nurse

Sal's CD is a clever mixture of styles, technicalities and tempos. This makes for a very enjoyable listen and sometimes it makes me think of how it would be to chill out on Miami Beach! Sal's playing on both Tenor and Alto is superb and he sits easily alongside some more well known players. Buy it - you won't be dissaponted... It's very cool!
