You've heard her before, you just didn't know......

Great singers surround themselves with great singers, and Sakai is no exception. Though her name might not sound familiar, her voice has probably already touched you. From being the first voice you hear on Celine Dion's "A New day", to vocals on records with Oleta Adams, Curtis Mayfield and Tower of Power to live performances with Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan, Sakai is called on by the best.

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Sakai has traveled the world sharing her gift of song and beauty. Though not one to be confined by "labels", Sakai had chosen to explore her soul, urban and inspirational ballad roots on her independently released sophomore album entitled "Dream Big." The album expresses life, love and pain from a soul who has been touched by others and is now giving back through her gift of song.

As expressed through her fist single "I Like," love is a universal theme. The infectious mid tempo groove has the touch of Dwayne Wiggins of Tony!, Toni!, Toné! on guitar, is supported by a multi format maxi single with club mixes by DJ Pause, DJ David Harness and the Disciples and has a broadcast ready music video produced by the Xzault Media Group. (The "I Like" Maxi-Single WITH remixes & music video is also available on CD Baby!)

This Sakai's second full length album again, produced by Family Tree Productions takes you on a 17 song journey of life, happiness, disappointments and faith. Sakai's vocal performance is phenomenal as she sings over songs co-written by Narada Michael Walden, Larry Batiste & Andre Pessis, Paizley and Darkside. Sakai and her 7 piece live band are prepared to share their gifts. Sakai promises to stay true to her message...

    I really love this album and I am so glad that I got it. I would recommend this album to anyone who likes this kind of music. Sakai brings so much soul and jazz to this album.     So this is what grown-up R&B sounds like. In an era of over-produced commercial vehicles like-well, you know who they are, this artist and CD is a refreshing example of the best in the genre. The producers on this album knew talent when they heard it-they wrapped Sakai up in a gossamar-thin silk weave of oh-so-perfect production value, then stayed out of her way as she reveals her soul to the listener beat by beat, track after track. The woman has soul, and it's clear she's got range, and because of her mastery of voice, she never feels the need to beat you over the head with it (W.Houston, Mariah Carey take note). Understated with sweet musical restrain this is an artist who's dialed in perfectly; it's about the music, and she never let's you forget it.

    Welcome to Sakai World! What was the last CD that you purchased that you listened to day in and day out? Haven't bought one of those in a while huh? Well man...you need to cop “Dream Big,” the latest from Sakai. Listening to Sakai is like laying back with a glass of your favorite mix drink, on the shore of the Caribbean, with a cool breeze leaving chill bumps on your body. With the flavor of Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Floetry, Sakai definitely fits in but stands out if you catch my drift. A native of the San Francisco Bay area, Sakai definitely leaves a great after taste for my ears, as I walk around the office reciting lyrics from one of my favorite tracks, “I Like” on her awesome CD. “Friendship 2 Love,” probably the best track on the CD, is on constant repeat when I'm driving. On this track, Sakai addresses the elevation of a relationship into something more, with a sensual instrumental behind her, Sakai rides this track like wind on top of the ocean.     I really like the title cut, Dream Big. For some reason, it gives me hope. It's probably the combination of well written lyrics and beautiful music. Sakai is definitely headed big places, and that's no lie. Great job. /scoop
