- BIOGRAPHY
Visit www.fmprod.com for more information bout the artist.
SAIDA KAROLI was born on the 4th of April 1976 in the Northern part of Tanzania within a small region called Bukoba. As a singer, composer, dancer and drummer, and within a short period of time, Saida has become a much sought after female artist all over East and Central Africa.
She has staged live shows in almost all parts of Tanzania, and has been on ~everal successful tours in Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, Uganda, Kenya and Zanzibar. Her artistic musical talent, which is filled with tradition, has captivated the diverse cultural audiences and her mellow singing voice continues to earn her a place the hearts of people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

GROWING UP
As a child, Saida lived in the small village of Rwongwe in Bukoba. Her culture did not permit girls to sing or play drums but her mother, who was also a musical figure in the village, encouraged her and taught her the essentials of
musIc. .
Due to lack of support from her drunken father, Saida only managed to attend school up to grade 5. At the age of 20, following the death of her mother and continued criticisms from the people around her, Saida still continued doing what she knows to do best - make music. Her humility, patience and good sense of humour make her a great and vibrant personality.

THE BEGINNING OF A CAREER
Saida remained in obscurity, up until FM Productions Ltd crossed paths with her in Bukoba, during a search for talented Tanzanians that could be promoted. After only three weeks of recording in FM STUDIOS, the young village girl that nobody knew, suddenly exploded into the music industry with the launching of her debut album on the 2nd of September 2001.
All in Tanzania felt the wave and Saida become a pioneer in traditional music being the first to achieve such success in Tanzania. In the same manner, she shined during her tours in Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya. .In all countries where she has set her feet, she has been perceived as the queen of traditional music.

SUCCESS IN THE CHARTS
The artistic routes chosen by Saida Karoli have been met with great success. Following the launch of her first album, one of Saida's songs titled Maria Salome stormed into the Top Ten charts of Tanzania's Radio stations and took the 3rd
position.
The following week the song jumped straight into the top position and firmly reigned supreme for six consecutive weeks. The songs Kaisiki (a song that talks about mothers who throwaway or abandon their children) and Ndombolo
are amongst her other great hits.
By December 2001 Saida Kalori had already been selected to entertain the Ugandan King, The Kabaka of Buganda and Ronald Muwenda during an annual Ugandan festival. In the opening invitation speech, she was described as "an accomplished African Musician" who is " no doubt the most popular traditional African musician in Uganda" and was voted as the "musician of the year" by the festival's organising committee.
She sings predominantly in HAYA (the language of the Haya tribe in Tanzania) as well as Swahili. However, even those who do not understand this language have been touched by her unique voice and the crisp quality of her music. Her sources
of inspiration are social values, the rural culture of Tanzania and that of its neighbouring countries, as well as the condition of human society.

At 25, Saida continues to touch the lives .of those around her through her lovely music. In June 2003 she saw the release of her new album titled MAPENZI KIZUNGUZUNGU, which shook the market with its unique traditional touch and is
available in Audio Cd, Video and DVD formats.
Harusi is her third album and this Mimi Nakupenda album is her fourth album.

TOUR
Her manager and producer Mr. Felician Mutta, who is also the CEO of the FM Productions L TO, has seen the great potential possessed by Saida Karoli as a traditional music singer and a female drummer.
Mr Mutta has been the driving force behind Saida's explosion onto the music scene, and is fully determined to continue to reveal Saida to the rest of Africa and beyond. Plans are underway to tour the United Kingdom, Scandinavian countries, Canada and USA during the coming summer.
No doubt, Saida Karoli, is a force to be reckoned with and based on what has been seen so far, only the sky is the limit.

Listening to the lovely Saida Karoli's voice infuses me with Joy and am neither from Tanzania (though i intend to go to experience Tanzania) nor from Africa (Italian on mother's side...and Russian on father's side). She is amazing and the music is just steeped in Universal rhythm evoking Joy in my heart.

  • Nice to the ears
    author: Erica

    It has beautiful lyrics

  • The best female voice in Africa!
    author: K Green

The songs on this CD are incredible, and are as good as any of Saida's other CDs. These recordings are very high quality, and you can especially appreciate the complex drums of a few of the tracks. Saida's voice is like sweet honey, the best of any female voice in Africa, and not digitally manipulated. You will not be disappointed with your purchase! As a side note, there are more Swahili tracks on this disc than most of Saida's others, though there is some Kihaya and Luganda.

  • Wonderful, clear information on day to day life
    author: Joel

I wish we could have such songs all over the world ones we bind us together and proud of what we are and stand for ,congrations and keep it up.
