Bought this after hearing Sacrifice on Ballads and Burlesque. I have fallen in love with this very talented woman's music. Each album is both a compliment to the one before and a fabulous teaser for the one that comes after. Each song on the albums are that way too. Such a voice....

  • had me hooked by the second song..Gorgeous!!

To be honest, I'd never heard of Rachael Sage before I listened here. I ordered it at once and have been playing it since I received it. It's absolutely beautiful, imaginative, and peaceful. Makes me feel great when I play it. Buy it, you won't be sorry.

This new discover is a treasure for all of us who adore Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, and you know the rest mixed with a little poppier edge (Chantal Kreviazuk / Nicole Nordeman) on some songs. And Rachael is SURE as good as the just mentioned artists. This is a really good album with a very nice production signed by Jimi Zhivago. Rachael who recently won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest sure proof that she is a talented songwriter. Listen to the opening track “Angel” with a Kate Bush vibe, listen to fourth out “Before It Comes”, with a progressive edge in a cool unique way and listen to the very beautiful acoustic “Unbeauty” with such a beautiful arrangement. A real nice moment in female piano-based singer songwriter pop. Listen to sixth out “Look” that starts out in a soft mood and builds up to be a great tune... Superb track. Seven out “Marmelade”, with a jazz-edge smells the band Philosopher Kings all over if anyone remembers them… And in that way it goes… The only track that doesn’t come up in the same calibre is second out “Trouble”. But who cares when 13 songs out of 14 are this good. I can assure you all that you will LOVE this stuff. This is her fourth CD so I need to check out the other three right away. And I must suggest all of you open minded music maniacs to do the same. And then I haven’t mentioned the unbelievable beautiful ballad “Linger”. As I said... Tremendous stuff.

  • Once again, Rachel Sage creates great music!

  • Sensual and warm vocalist and piano player!

Warm songs with a sensual touch! Found it trough the Grokster software startpage and just took a quick listen through at the songs (Rachael Sage Home Page) and fell in love! I strongly recomend this if you like Tori Amos, Jewel and such!

  • Beautiful vocals, great hooks
    author: Todd

I bought this album purely on recommendations and listening to a few sound clips. From the moment the first song started, I was hooked. Rachael has a unique voice and she puts it to good use. The piano playing is inspired, and the backup instruments include strings as well as guitars. Some songs rock, others are mellow, but they all have a deep texture, a tapestry of instruments that is often lacking from pop/rock music. These songs have depth, and the lyrics show why Rachael has won songwriting awards. Go buy this album - but be warned - it takes 2 or 3 listens for the songs' hooks to grab you. After that, they'll be in your head all the time.

  • The like the groove and the piano and the way it drives.
    author: Angie

I keep coming back to cdbaby to hear this cd. It's growing on me. I didn't realize I liked piano in folk music until I heard this cd. Drive is my favorite tune and then trouble. Hope to see ya live someday at the Coffee and Tea Room in Williamsport PA.

  • In short SIMPLY AMAZING

I have not takent this CD out of my player. Remarkable lyrics and composition. My two favorite songs on this album are Unbeauty and the slightly jazzy Marmelade. Worth the purchase.

  • ...in short, i love it!
    author: Alli

I've been listening to illusion's carnival over and over the past few days...in short, i love it! i am partial to smashing the serene, probably because that's the first cd of yours that i heard, but they are both so wonderful. i am so touched that you wrote a song about the terrorist events of last year; what a great tribute, which also looks for a reason AND a solution (you don't get much that tries to touch on all three aspects of 9/11). i'm in love with "angel"! probably my favorite track from the cd. *hugs and love*

  • Love the album
    author: Elijah Saint

I love this cd, the music 2 me is different. It's creative, unique and totaly different from the everyday music I listen 2.

  • I checked your album out and loved it!!!
    author: Eduardo

Well, basically what I'd like to tell you is that I loved the album... it's great!!! I hope to hear more about you and maybe get to see you live!...you are very passionate and you are not afraid to try new stuff! It's good to see a self taught piano player/songwriter out there - I play the piano and am a big fan of anyone who does! I like your rhythm and your lyrics. Best regards.
