Independent NJ Singer/Songwriter/Musician Russ Bonagura Releases New CD “SONGS FOR PEOPLE” and Includes 50 year old Family Recording Heirloom
If you live in America and watch TV, you’ve heard Russ Bonagura’s voice and music.
For starters, all across America television viewers have heard the sounds of Bonagura’s jingle “I Like It On That” for Santa Fe Salsa’s 2007 nationwide promotion launch of the product line. This began airing on Dec 11, 2006 and will run continuously thru 2008 on all major networks. Written, produced and performed by Bonagura on all instruments and vocals, here’s the link to view the commercial online:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY8Z0CIn0QU
In addition, many of Russ’ songs have been aired on Natl’ TV shows including ABC, CBS, WB, FOX, VH1, FUSE: For example, "Please Understand" (from his 2003 CD release 'Pieces') featured on CBS' Young And The Restless.. CBS’ One Life To Live has featured Russ’ “At This Moment”.. And ABC’s All My Children has featured 2 others from the ‘Pieces’ CD "Angel By My Side" and “Take A Minute" more than a dozen times in the past 18 months. Both the song and the music video for “Take A Minute” have been aired on AMC and are scheduled for more airings this year. This video can be seen on Russ’ site: http://www.russbonagura.com/
A child prodigy who was singing, learned to play bass, guitar, and drums all by age 10 and formed his first band at age 13, Russ Bonagura has been on the road to establishing himself as a career-oriented singer/songwriter since the early days of his teens. A staple on the East Coast music scene, performing over 100 live gigs per year, Russ has independently released 6 recordings (‘Pieces’ being #6) and 1 music video including; 4 full-length CDs and 2 EP/Singles and, he has penned more than 300 songs to date. In addition to above, Russ’ songs have been used as spots on NY’s WPLJ Scott & Todd In The Morning, The Howard Stern Radio Show and he has also lent his voice and face to many radio and tv jingles including 2004’s "Visa and The Grinch" commercial starring Jim Carey. Russ' musical reach has even extended outside the United States; his song "Daydreamin'" (the title track from his 1998 CD release) was a signature tune for the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan and appeared on the CBS Music Library that year.
Russ’ current 2008 independent release (his 7th) “SONGS FOR PEOPLE” is available now by visiting his website! Included on the new CD as a bonus track is, and Bonagura quotes; "a very special song called "You And I" that my father wrote and recorded with my 2 uncles in 1958. Since I was only 7 when my Dad passed away I never had a chance to sing or perform with him - I've now been able to do that!.. I've used the original recording to start the new version (50 years later) I then morph it into the new version with me on lead vocals in a duet with my Dad.. New instrumentation comes in and I brought my 83 year old uncle (who is the last living from the original recording), my older brother and my 3 children to sing bkgrd vocals - we now have 3 generations of Bonagura's singing on this! It's very special to me and my family!"
Some of the players on the new material include; Mike Brignardello (Lonestar, Faith Hill), Howard Duck (Rascal Flatts) and Pat Buchanan (James Taylor, Hall & Oates). A sampler of new music can be heard on Russ’ MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/russbonagura

Awesome, as usual!
author: JenineExpected nothing less than the best from Russ, and got it! This CD is so great...terrific songs, great lyrics, easy to get into and love right from the start. My favorite so far is "Before These Jeans Were Faded", but I really love "Door #3" and "Letter to God" too. Of course "You and I" is just too special for words! Keep 'em coming Russ! We love ya!
Great Voice!
author: JennRuss has an amazing voice, and an undeniable charisma that comes through in all his music. His lyrics are honest and heartfelt and express experiences and emotions that most people can relate to, without becoming overly sentimental. We heard him perform these songs live recently, but forgot to pick up an album on the way out - so here I am! Way to go Russ on your new CD - it's really great!!
AWESOME!
author: Maria SalvantoEspecially like Door #3 and Thirtysomething. They are wonderful songs with such great sentiment, reminds me of those good old songs that tell a story. Hope we can hear them on the radio one day soon :)
GREAT, GREAT CD!
author: ed palermoEverything about this album is tremendous. The songs, the production, the inspired vocal performances, everything. Every song is a gem, but my favorites seem to come along halfway thru the CD. Starting with "What If", a haunting song in 3/4 with a bridge that is unforgettable. Russ' vocal harmonies are intricately woven and create a surreal effect as he sings "these voices in my head". "Beautiful Soul" is just a beautiful song inside and out. I can't get the melody of the chorus out of my head. "Letter to God" starts out as an innocent pop song by evolves into a gospel tag (ending) that is probably my favorite part of the album. This is the longest song on the CD, but it could have gone on another 10 minutes as far as I'm concerned. "Take My Heart" grabbed me the first time I heard it. It's a perfectly constructed pop song with an unforgettable hook. As a song in its entirety, it's my favorite on the CD. And finally, the last song on the CD, "You and I" almost had me in tears. It starts off with an old 45 of Russ' dad and his brothers singing a song he wrote in 1958, scratches and all. About a minute into it, Russ expertly blends in his own vocals and guitar, replete with background assistance from Russ' 3 children. It's a emotionally poignant moment and an amazing way to close the CD. Thanks for the songs!!!
I Love it!
author: RichI love your new CD. Door# 3 and Who Knows are my favs so far. Great lyrical sentiments and powerful, versatile vocals abound on all the songs. The simple uncluttered production really shows off your voice well. I love the organ on Songs for People. This CD is somewhat like your Sgt Pepper because the songs all hang together with a common thread and there's a lot of individual creativity that makes each one unique. It's an accomplishment to be really proud of. Best, Rich
