notes

The Rude Pundit is Lee Papa, a writer, professor, and performer. His two-year old blog has tens of thousands of readers each week, from all over the world. The New York Times called Papa "a tornado of a writer" and "a child of Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor and Hunter S. Thompson" whose "ferocious column" attracts "shrewd, passionate fans." Time Out New York said, "Cathartic political commentary for an audience eager to laugh off its liberal frustration...Is he preaching to the converted? Sure, but so is Fox News. Papa, preach on."

His one-man performance piece, The Rude Pundit in The Year of Living Rudely, is the only show to sell out before even opening in the history of the New York International Fringe Festival. The Rude Pundit has been cited by CNN, The Washington Post, and other media outlets.

The Rude Pundit can be read every day at rudepundit.blogspot.com.

The Year of Living Rudely is an hysterical, maniacal combination of the Rude Pundit's live show and original material, featuring the Rude Players as Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, and all members of the Bush family. In a series of for-adults-only monologues and sketches, the Rude Pundit takes on Dubya, the war in Iraq, torture, fundamentalist Christians, and all the Right Wing issues afflicting America right now. At turns uproarious, vicious, and disturbing, The Year of Living Rudely will make your favorite liberal stand up and cheer and cause your conservative friends to explode.

The Year of Living Rudely is Mouth Noise Discs (mouthnoisediscs.com) first release. Mouth Noise is dedicated to delivering the best original humor our planet has to offer.

  • Added fun with songs and well performed writing
    author: Jen

Topical, outrageous, laugh-out-loud funny and definitely in the vein of the blog. If a DVD comes out that's even half as good as this CD, it'll be brilliant.

  • author: Mitch

Living rudely is all it's cracked up to be! If trolling for rock bottom seems to be the norm as exemplified by the current dubya crew then this pundit offering fits to a tee!Filth begets filth, the bushovics say lie and multiply, the pundit says eat shit and die!

  • Lowering the level of discourse? Sign me up!
    author: John K

This disc is filthydirtyfunny and on the mark -- an example of how lowering the level of discourse in our country actually gets people talking. Bold as hell and quite worth the price. Righties in denial need not apply.

  • FAN-FUKKIN'-TASTIC!
    author: The Jazman speaks

The Rude Pundit tells it like it IS! No punches pulled, no bullshit, just pure, unadulterated filthy rants against the morons that are running this country into the ground. A must for capital-L liberals and their conservative bretheren everywhere!

  • Fucking BRILLIANT...
    author: Glenn

...just like the rude daily colunm. Love it!!

  • Great for the long ride
    author: vicky popper

On the ride down to LA Cal with my son and his friends, I popped in the CD . It was great, they were shocked I think (kids!)but I laugh like hell.

  • Explains, "Don't drink the Kool-Aid"
    author: duvidil

In a portion of track 11 (that happens to be free of words that give prudes an excuse to quit listening), The Rude Pundit shows with breathtaking clarity how the methods of Bush and the neocons parallel those of Jim-Jones-type theocratic dictators who'll feed their flock poisoned Kool Aid. Until I heard this, I never really understood the warning, "Don't drink the Kool Aid!"

  • eloquent pisschrist poetry
    author: caveman

This disc is a work of art, eloquent poetry on a par with the PissChrist sculpture that got Uncle Jesse Helmes so hot and bothered. God, I hope that somebody will be able to spike the White House punch with this needs-to-be-heard shit.

  • Rage against the dying of the light
    author: CS Lewis Jr.

A set of blistering polemics against American Fascism, Christopaths and human stupidity and venality in general, Lee Papa's first CD takes the distinctive, intelligent vitriol of The Rude Pundit and adds professional production values and talented additional performers to create a relentless attack on those who would pervert and debase our great Republic for their own nefarious and dishonorable ends. Funny, angry, personal and very, very rude. If you enjoy scathing political humor in the vein of The Daily Show, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Hunter Thompson and Bill Hicks, this CD is a must-own. Hopefully Mr. Papa will make enough money from this record to finance a DVD of the live show from which much of this material was adapted. Until then, take comfort in knowing that The Rude Pundit is at least as angry about the current miserable state of our nation as you are ... and can make you laugh as he puts his hobnailed boot up some very well-deserving asses.

  • filth, filth and more filth
    author: tim boniface

got this as a requested christmas, ...er, holiday gift and it's better than i imagined it could be. cudos to the rude one. it's filth, a veritable bouquet of filth. i've been waiting to see what kind of flowers would erupt from the steaming manure projected out of the east wing of the white house, and here we have it! buy it by the gross and shower it down like confetti upon those you love and those you, well feel otherwise toward.

  • Disturbing words for disturbing times
    author: The J Train

The Rude Pundit, aka Lee Papa, is going to hell. Each and every track on this CD provides plenty of reasons why any just God would banish him to eternal torment. For Track 2 alone, a track entitled "Squirrel Monkey", Papa should, at the very least, be deported. All this is to say that you should buy this CD. Buy one for yourself, and buy a stack to give to your friends and enemies alike.

  • Fucking awesome
    author: marblex

I LOVE this man. We are kindred spirits. Whenever I feel especially angry at der Shrubenfuherer, I listen to the Rude One. He calmeth me down, and sootheth over my rage. F U N N Y, incisive and RIGHT ON! 10 stars!

  • this cd caused my first ejaculation. ever
    author: rick santorum

I have no idea what I'm going to do now. I feel so good, but so dirty. Help me, mommy!

  • author: Mike

I laughed, I cried, I wet myself (not necessarily in that order). Much of the material is familiar as I read the Rude Pundit every day. But having it performed so professionally brings home the heart of rudeness. Brilliant.

  • Thinking man's rudeness!
    author: M. Douglas Wray

FANTASTIC!!!!! Top notch CD - ranks right up there with anything Pryor, Carlin, or, for that matter, Bruce ever did. Some will dismiss this as puerile humor. It is not. Needle-sharp political commentary with a scorching hot wit, right in the mind's eye. Listened to it all the way through and loved every second of it. Lee Papa is as fearless as he is brilliant.
