notes
Born in Kentucky on an army base, RPM grew up in Virginia. Studying classical voice, piano and flute at a young age, she then moved on to electric guitar & headed to New York after (barely) enduring parochial high school. While working the "requisite shitty jobs & enduring the requisite shitty life experiences," and performing on stage, television, and Bleeker Street, RPM received a degree concentrating in Epic Literature from NYU. She then took off to Los Angeles and began working with various songwriters, musicians and producers. One of those collaborators was Frank Gryner (A Perfect Circle, Rob Zombie) with whom RPM would go on to create her debut CD IRRATIONAL ANTHEM (January '04).
Releasing IRRATIONAL ANTHEM through her own independent label 7940 Records is something RPM didn't question. "I wanted people to hear my music...now. Not wait on a corporation to sanction it."
Without any major label backing, RPM's IRRATIONAL ANTHEM defied odds earning incredible reviews and praise from the press, her peers, and fans alike. From a fan's CDBaby rave of "Fantastically Subversive!!!!!!" to Tommy Lee's "Hell yeah!!...Ya gotta love a girl who just doesn't give a fuck about saying what she feels," Antimusic's "Brilliant!" & Daily Vault's "[i]ron fist in a velvet glove, hell. RPM...is more like a titanium fist in a sandpaper glove with little spiky bits all over it," the only thing RPM is running short on is room on her press page.
The next step for LA based indie artist RPM was to release more material - this time in the form of a concept EP: A YOUNG PERSON'S GUIDE TO BEING AN AMERICAN (September '04). A YOUNG PERSON'S GUIDE...is causing another major stir with its powerful imagery and pointed musical criticisms of George Bush and the war in Iraq. Featuring a powerful cover of the 1989 hit Toy Soldiers, and anthemic new original songs, this release coincided with MTVU and FYE's 50,000 unit release of the IN THE WASH compilation featuring Don't Be You, the 100,000 JCPenney/FYE MP3 giveaway featuring Girl Next Door, numerous songwriting awards (including Billboard), heavy college radio play, a deal in Japan, and mainstream spins on LA's influential 103.1. A YOUNG PERSON'S GUIDE TO BEING AN AMERICAN is a fitting follow up to IRRATIONAL ANTHEM - direct, in your face, melodic, thoughtful, raw and rocking - what RPM is known for.
Currently, RPM is playing packed shows in LA, preparing for her February '05 Japanese release of Irrational Anthem (and subsequent live shows in Tokyo), writing and recording. For More Information On RPM visit www.rpm.tv or www.myspace.com/rpm.

Best release of emotion in thirty years...then some!
author: MarkFew artists get it right. Almost none are virtually perfect. This is the way an album stays in a collection for a lifetime. Reviewer Maria Palmer describes it as beautiful, haunting, moving, frightening, and heartfelt. I cannot agree more. If only there were a way to describe it better to music lovers who have yet to hear the best album released in our lifetimes. MUST HAVE IN COLLECTION!
I have her guitar
author: JonI have an RPM signed guiar! I won it through a contest and I am willing to sell it. It is an Epiphone Junior guitar and RPM used it to record THIS album! Contact me if interested: jonhutchins@gmail.com

我非常喜欢这张CD ,
HONEST
author: CorinnaI love this CD because RPM is so completely honest. Good for her. You know, I wish more artists would speak their minds like she does. The track Goddamnit is my favorite one. Can't get enough of that song. The lyrics are fearless and RPM is a force to be reckoned with.
kick ass cd
author: larry fordrpm is a fuck ass band love them got the cd it rocks its just fuckin great rpm sings about what ever she wants and feels and what is real so go but it its kick ass
Goddamn Genius
author: CorinnaI love it! An uncensered artist, speaking and screaming her mind, these lyrics are things that have needed to be said for a LONG fucking time, and they are just now being said. Buy this CD.
wow...thats all i have to say
author: Jeskashe knows the message she is trying to send out and she knows how to say it...she is not afraid of what others think of her and she is a very good writer...id say that is exactly what the music industry needs!!!
F A N T A S T I C !!!
author: SusanneI love this CD!!! And also the "young person's guide" CD is great, I love ALL songs, and this is very unusual for me. I'm so glad I heard about RPM by accident in a club... I liked the music from the first tone, if you feel the same, you have to buy it! "Goddamn it" gives you a special kick. The lyrics are special, too. I don't know why some friends say, it's a bit hard - NO, not at all ! It's great and melodic rock, absolutely perfect for me. If you like alternative rock you'll like it!
This cd ROCKS!!!!
author: GlennStumbled across this young lady on Myspace.com....heard her music and emailed her and she let me know she had a website and I could get her musick there. Well I liked her music so much I bought not 1 but 3 and passed them out to friends....and they are sharing with there friends as we speak. Finally an artist not afraid to say shut the fuck up I have something to say. In the era of commercial pop crap and idolism a bastion of light appears and breaks the barrier of sound....named RPM. I am highly reccommending this girl to every one I talk to. Even other bands I know I say "dude you have to check this chick out!" GREAT F'IN CD
This is One of the best CD's I have ever heard.
author: DominicThis is one of the greatest CD's I have ever heard. I found it through a search and I am so glad I did. The only thing keeping RPM from being a superstar is her lyrics. but that is what I am the proudest of. She isnt afraid to say what she thinks and not what she is "suppose" to say.
just plain awesome
author: trishI caught wind of this cd on Launch and was absolutely glued to the music, so I took a shot in the dark and bought the cd. I am THRILLED with every track on it and have converted a few friends to become listeners as well. Love it, love it, love it!
Pure Class
author: TimtoyotaStumbled across RPM via Launchcast radio on yahoo. And you just know its gonna be one of those albums you just have to get! So I did and its the best album I have bought in years.
FUCK YEAH! FINALLY A GIRL ROCKER WHO ACTUALLY ROX
author: V MaddenI FUCKING luv this CD i swear.....its soo kick ass...RPM has no prob sayin wut she feels with out the regard of caring wut ppl think....its so cool when theres a girl who can actually rock and still not sound like another poser chick...if u dont have this CD ..you should seriously buy it its way worth the money
Buy It Now!!
author: SaigrahAs a person who listens to every genre of music I loved the CD!! I gave it 4 Stars. I agree with almost everything & I commend CD Baby for having a spot for artists like this. The album title couldn't be more perfect. G.W. Bush & "god" lovers will hate it when they hear the truth in her words!! I wish there were more songs on the CD, but what can I say... I'm a music junkie. Rock On!!
Great politically and emotionally charged debut!
author: JamesRPM is someone refreshing to hear in these days of prefabricated pop and safe lyrics. RPM holds nothing back, and clearly indicates her political stance (she does so very clearly in her liner notes as well). Not afraid to speak (or in this case sing) her mind, her songs touch on topics that most other artists would barely touch or at least dance around to leave some ambiguity in their words. RPM leaves no doubt as to what she is singing about and one can often guess who in particular she is directing her anger, frustration or middle finger to...no vagueness or ambiguity here! The music and Frank Gryner's production itself is extremely top notch, sounding as good as any mainstream release out there...and at times even better, as so much music out there these days is horribly over-produced. Definitely also check out her follow-up EP "A Young Person's Guide to Being an American", which features more no-holds-barred RPM.
I think I found a new Hero
author: CoreyI know this says to concentrate the review on the CD, which is great and the lyrics and melody rock my world, but its impossible not to make note of this amazing artist who openly states her views, not subtle, not afraid of retaliation, and not willing to back down in the face of it. I would have bout this cd just to read the inside of the CD jacket.
effing great
author: Collected SoundsThese songs are politically and socially charged, intelligent, meaningful, thought provoking and sexy. RPM has a fondness for cursing especially the "effenheimer". She knows how to get her point across. Not only are her lyrics great, but the songs sound cool as well. The driving rhythms, the wild guitar and the gusty vocals make this true kick-ass music. Stand out songs: "Goddamnit" "Play God"
Great debut album!
author: JimI found RPM by accident, I was actually searching on Google for another artist and ran across RPM's website. After hearing a few clips from her album, Irrational Anthem, I HAD to buy it! I played the 'Goddamnit' and 'You Can't Take Me Anywhere' clips more times than I care to count! An overall great first album. RPM really speaks from the heart and doesn't let the censors get in her way!
A Feisty favourite
author: Feisty Radio ShowOutspoken and fearless - a great debut. Goddamnit is an irresistable opener to a really strong album and the sleevenote rant is worth the price of admission on its own.
Fantastically Subversive !!!!!!
author: Wolfy316This CD is a brilliantly little subversive album, the dark lyrics mixed with what at first seems like standard pop music is a wonderful effect. And I love the fact that there seems to be none of the standard (these days anyway) vocal trickery, it shows a confidence born of real talent, not born of the mixing desk. Well done RPM cannot wait to hear what you do next.
Sheer Brilliance
author: Dave Smith (UK)I have been fortunate enough to add this CD to my collection. It beats all competition hands down! The album kicks in with Goddamnit, and what a song. Thereafter, track after track offers up gem after gem of melodic musical genius, with real attitude. I have lived with this CD for 3 weeks now, and all I can say is BUY or DIE!!. Eat your heart out Avril, you may be good, BUT RPM is here, she's better, and what's more she is here to stay!!
Wow....
author: SerenaI just finished listening to this album and I have decided it is the best album I have bought so far, this year. Godamnit is mind-blowing and, like the other 10 songs, I can understand everything she is saying. I loved the thank yous she wrote and everything. I'm sorry, but I love her voice, the guitars, the everything! Say what you want to say, girl.
Awesome
author: genekleinRPM is not only a great artist, she is a great person! I met her not long ago and she was very intersted in talking with her fans. Her live performance is something that should not be missed! You must hear RPM!
RPM...This CD Kicks Some Serious ASS
author: Chrissy DarlingtonIrrational Anthem is the kind of CD, you can put on and it is great from beginning to end and I can't say that for a lot of CD's. She is going to be hugem she has got the sound and the attitude, I recommend this CD highly.!!!
Really angry, really good!
author: CariIrrational Anthem is a really good CD, and the artist actually has some weight to her anger, something to base it on. So much better than the pseudo-angry, pseudo-"rock" artists out on the mainstream market. There is only one song that I consistently skip because I find it boring; the rest I find myself singing along with. The lyrics could use some work, but the guitar work and the music is great! Great production. Well worth the money, highly recommended!
Really Cool and Original
author: NellaI found this artist by accident and I really liked the samples on her website so I bought the CD. Its soooooo good! Really unique and the thing I liked most was the credits in the cover - None of the normal mushy "Thankyou mummy and daddy and Brandy the dog" she was totally truthful. The best song on this album was: "A Happy Song" Because its just isn't!!! :)
RPM
author: DesireeIrrational Anthem is awesome. I am all about the FUCK YOU attitude of this CD. If you love rockn' chicks who have a brain you have to check this CD out!
RPM is the illest!
author: Ben GraffThis CD is super-cool, finally a chance to hear some of the darker songs that you can't listen to on this website, and they are amazing. Thanks for kicking so much ass girl!
RPM Fucking ROCKS!!!!
author: Maria PalmerFinally an artist who is not afraid to let people know that she has a brain! Her music is beautiful, haunting, moving, frightening, and heartfelt. It's not the typical pop crap that you hear on the radio over and over ad nauseum.
