notes
Jamie Rounds is a writer and performer living in Nashville, TN.
Rounds has long been a favorite at the Bluebird Cafe, Opryland, CMT's Roots Revival and elsewhere. While in Los Angeles he was also lead guitarist for John Wicks & The Records, the highly influential power-pop band responsible for such 3-minute gems as "STARRY EYES" and "TEENARAMA".
His own music has been described thus:
"This is the kind of thinking man's rock 'n' pop that has powered rock radio for decades. You can sing it, you can dance it and you darn well will love this music...a stunning mix of rock, pop, rockabilly and Opryland all rolled together."
- Don Krider, POWER POP MUSIC NEWS, 2001
His songs have appeared in motion pictures, theatre productions, and on television, most recently in the MTV/Paramount film "SPRING BREAK LAWYER".
He has performed in concert as guitarist and vocalist with John Lee Hooker, The Steve Earle Band, Carter Wood, Walter Egan and many others, and was part of John Fogerty's "BLUE MOON SWAMP" tour in 1997. Graham Nash and Charlie Gracie recently covered the rockabilly-flavored "A LITTLE TOO SOON TO TELL" for Gracie's new CD on Lanark Records.
Rounds plays 6- and 12-string electric and acoustic guitars and electric bass, and is currently an endorser for the new line of Pignose tube amplifiers and Danelectro guitars. He performs regularly at the National Association of Music Merchandisers (NAMM) shows, in both Los Angeles and Nashville.

Great in the car or anywhere!
author: Laura T Lynch of Kweevak.comFrom the hard driving opening riffs to the closing chords sung by legendary Brian Wilson, Ten Great Car Tunes rocks. This eleven-track collection melds a powerful guitar driven sound with traces of rockabilly and pop. Jamie's arrangements are upbeat featuring dynamic guitar work. Full bodied sounds, crisp clean production and fine varied vocals complete the package. 'So Long' will grab your attention with the first cool chords and speeds along with a driving beat and hard rocking guitars. Blended into the song is some Byrds like guitar rifts. It is followed by 'Guitar Noir' an instrumental track showcasing smoky mystical leads with a funky beat. 'Long Shot' has a striped down classic rock sound with modern textured edges and layered vocals. This CD, like a classic car improves, with time. Each listen brings into focus more chords, techniques and passionate playing.
You've Gotta Hear This One...
author: Kristi HeinYou've gotta hear this one, and when you hear it, you've gotta have it. From the first engine-revving guitar riff, Jamie Rounds' "Ten Great Car Tunes" is great for the car, all right - you'll crank it up, sing along, drum on the steering wheel. And it's great anywhere else - at a party, on the dance floor, or any time you need to lift your spirits with fine rock n roll...
homemade goodness
author: jason thompson, fufkin.com / esoteric echohomemade goodness: it never occurred to me how many great guitarists that there must be out there. jamie rounds has released ten great car tunes (bristol music co.) to pop in your car's cd player whenever you're tooling around for groovy chicks. included in the collection is "guitar noir", which appeared on mtv's "live through this" and the charlie gracie/graham nash tune"a little too soon to tell"...
Rockin' it right
author: NEW YORK POWER POP PAGENot so much songs about cars, but songs that beg to be heard while putting the pedal to the metal on a hot summer day. You know, like Bachman Turner Overdrive's "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" - the kind of song that sounds best on the freeway with the wind rushing through you and your baby's hair...
"Ten great car tunes" = One great CD!
author: Harry CalhounI first heard Jamie Rounds' music back in central Pennsylvania in the early 80s, and I'm glad to report that with "Ten Great Car Tunes" he's retained the enthusiasm and style that powered his music then, but gained much more in subtlety and diversity. Great blend of styles on this CD ... and it DOES sound great in your car! All thumbs up and let's hope we hear much more from this talented artist.

author: 20th CENTURY GUITAR / Robert SilversteinWhether going for the gusto with a solid pop-rock groove, getting mysterious with an instrumental guitar setting or getting wistful with a Buddy Holly-inspired roots rock sound, guitarist and singer-songwriter Jamie Rounds covers all the bases on Ten Great Car Tunes. Rounds performs all the guitars, instruments and vocal parts himself with the notable addition of Duane Jarvis (guitar) and Avery Auger (banjo) on a pair of tracks. Among the two instrumental cuts is a passionate cover of the Jorma Kaukonen classic "Embryonic Journey". Rounds, who recently relocated to L.A. from Nashville has worked with greats like John Lee Hooker, Steve Earle and Walter Egan. With the release of Ten Great Car Tunes Rounds is primed to move on to greater public recognition. www.jamierounds.com

author: NOT LAME RECORDS / Bruce BrodeenA special CD-R release that was just too darn cool to let sit on the sidelines. "His own take on merging melody with more roots-based sound not unlike the kind of thing Marshall Crenshaw does"-Shake It Up. As a matter of fact, this is almost a can't lose release for fans of Crenshaw's early work! Vocally, he reminds me of Herb Eimerman, for those who remember him. Thinking man's rock 'n pop..a stunning mix of pop, rock, rockabilly and Opryland all rolled together...Echoes of Rounds' personal heroes--Brian Wilson, Steve Miller, Roger McGuinn--and others, shine throughout the disc in the writing, singing and playing"-Power Pop News.

author: POWER POP MUSIC NEWS / Don KriderFor once, an album title that speaks the truth: "10 Great Car Tunes" is a perfect description of Jamie Rounds' current CD. This is the breezy, happy-go-lucky, thinking man's rock 'n' pop that has powered rock radio for decades. You can sing it, you can dance it and you darn well will love this music. Jamie Rounds (a veteran of music whose credentials include working with John Fogerty, Walter Egan, Steve Earle and John Lee Hooker, among others) is a transplanted citizen of Los Angeles (that den of power pop music) from Nashville (the mother land of country music). His music is a stunning mix of rock, pop, rockabilly and Opryland all rolled together.
