notes

It's been a long time coming, but here it is. My first CD. This musical odyssey began in Winnipeg, Canada where I lived until I was a teenager. Like most kids at the time I started on electric guitar (my early influences being the groups of the sixties) playing around The Peg in various bands at local community centers. Winnipeg was a great music town (still is). Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman (of The Guess Who) and Neil Young are just a few of the more famous alumni. And, speaking of The Guess Who, they had a television program on CBC when I was a kid. I ended up with the amplifier that Randy Bachman used on the program. It was called a BTO. I loved that amp. This was BEFORE Bachman, Turner, Overdrive.

I switched to acoustic guitar in my late teens when I discovered Cat Stevens. I don't think anyone other than Harley Brayshaw has been a greater influence in my musical journey than he. Also at this time I hit the road east and landed in Toronto, considered at the time THE CITY for music in Canada. In the summer in Toronto, Yonge Street, from Queen to Bloor, was closed to traffic and a mall was created. The perfect environment for street musicians. I became one of them. For several summers I enjoyed the streets of Toronto playing, not only on Yonge Street, but also several watering holes on The Strip. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Florida; New York City; New Jersey; Nashville; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Colorado; Victoria, British Columbia; and now the Bay Area of Northern California have not only been places I have called home, but places where I have performed and remained creative.

The nine songs on this CD are certainly reflective of the places I have landed and the people and events that have shaped my life to this point.
