Wynn-Anne Rossi is an active composer, performer and educator. She has over 30 publications, mostly for piano, through the FJH Music and Boston Music companies, with reviews in several national magazines. Commissions include works for Minnesota Public Radio and American Composers Forum. She is well-known through Bravo, a music program in the MN public schools which introduces her music, along with music of Bach and Beethoven, to thousands of elementary students each year. She loves roller-blading, befriending animals and watching the Minnesota night sky for northern lights.
TAKE ME NORTH, her first CD release, is a musical journey into the heart, soul and humor of living North. The music is divided into four distinct groups, each voicing a different aspect of the North.
TAKE ME NORTH suite, originally commissioned by MTNA for a convention, is based on the diverse Minnesota state symbols. Brief narrative is designed to go before each piece, awakening the imagination of the listener. The music combines digital recordings by the composer with live musicians.
CREATURE VOICES is composed for a cappella voice and performed by the acclaimed group Dare to Breathe. It is a six-piece suite communicating experience from the creature's point of view. Text, with a sense of humor, is written by the composer.
NATURE PASSION POEMS is performed by nationally known soprano (42 operas!) Maria Jette, accompanied by the composer. Playful, yet soulful, this music voices images of Lake Superior, the wild daisy, cloud formations and more. The nature-based text is written by the composer.
STATE FAIR SUITE is a five-piece suite commissioned by Minnesota Public Radio for a live broadcast at the fair. The music takes you into the heart of State Fair experience. Brief narrative links the pieces into a musical adventure. Stephanie Wendt Johnson, former MPR host/producer and Wynn-Anne are at the piano. Maria Jette and tenor John David Moore join them for the finale, "Junk Food Blues".
