notes

Writer, Vocalist, Pianist, Guitarist, Co-Producer

Rose's passion for writing and playing music was evident at the age of 3, when she began to play piano by ear. After various refusals from piano teachers to take her on (due to her tiny hands at age 3), her father finally found a music teacher who took her in and began conservatory training.

As the years went by, Rose studied dance, theatre, piano, guitar, and she always enjoyed live performance. In her teens, she began to do studio work (vocals) for a variety of projects, and also performed in Spain, Japan, and Canada for international festivals.

She graduated from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary in Vancouver, BC, as Valedictorian of her class year.

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts (Germanic studies, Music, Theatre, history and english), she went on to start her 2 businesses: Lion Records, her indie label, and Direct Corporate Solutions, a software-solutions company, which also helped her promote her music to an international audience.

With the kind and generous help from friends and industry contacts, her first album, "What I don't Get" was released late 1999 and received acclaim on the West Coast, and now, around the world via the power of internet.

She continued to work towards developing a home studio, so that she could capture more of what she was writing - as her name suggests, "Reiter" (pronounced "writer" and short for her legal name Hastreiter), she writes dozens of songs every year and now has a pre-production home studio that she and her husband work in (he is also a professional musician and composer).

Rose's vocal range reaches almost 4-octaves and she sings a variety of styles, and still lends her voice to the studio.

She is currently working with several international contacts in developing pop material for European artists, and she has also been asked to participate in several projects such as doing her own version of the song "November Rain" (Guns & Roses) which will be internationally released and promoted Fall of 2006.

Her songwriting has won her several awards, most recently, the "Song of the Year" competition, her song "You Leave" placed 2nd in the December 05 round in the Adult Contemporary genre.

Since she writes for a variety of genres, her style of writing varies - but for her own brand, Rose Reiter, her style is deeply emotional, connected to soul and insightful.

  • Goes right to the heart

I worked with Rose, and at the time she was doing this album, saw her CD release party. She is in my mind, definitely one of the most talented, natural artists to come along in a long time.. She has it all, and is a wonderful person to know. Hearing her music warms my heart and I feel honoured to know her and have this album to listen to. I know one day she will make it big, she has too much talent not to.

  • Wonderful album!

I liked this CD on the first listen; but the more I listen to it, the more I love it. There are great songs, she has a great voice, and it has good production values. The quality of the audio clips on the website didn't do it justice. I bought a second copy so that I could keep one in the car!

  • Sarah McLachlan or Paula Cole fans give this a listen
    author: Shane Milburn

I listened to the CD twice the day I got and am now posting this. Very good CD. In many places this reminds me a lot of Paula Cole, both in vocalization and in songwriting. There's a lot of talent here. There's an underlying funk groove to many of the tunes, but ultimately remains accessible and melodic. If you like Paula Cole or Sarah McLachlan give this a listen.

  • Solid set. . .

Solid set of sounds and must agree 8 of hearts and silence are my favorites. A couple of songs remind me of Sophie B Hawkins and a couple like Sarah Mc. Hope to hear more from this artist.

Truly an amazing range of abilities and style. Influences from rock to jazz, folk to symphonic all are blended into a single creative focus and expression on this CD. The quality is solid, honest and impressive. This CD was the start of a creative journey we all get to tag along on....her web site says her next album is out this year!!! Can't wait.
