notes
"Omen Dirt (Low-5)" contains the Death Folk and Artistic Rock visions of Dr. Martin Jack Rosenblum, with the Last Canyon Band. Produced by Michael Hoffmann, this album includes the epic Rock song entitled "Standing On The Gallows" that, along with the other Folk songs and one Blues poem, forever changes the borderline at the wedge of secret places we share when lights flicker within our dark fires of startling amazement.
Stark Folk idioms easily flow alongside brutal Rock and Roll at it its most immanent implosion on this Martin Jack Rosenblum album.
Recorded live in the studio, "Omen Dirt (Low-5)" is a majestic and ragged, simple and expansive album of new Martin Jack Rosenblum compositions in 2006 and, for the first time, the Last Canyon Band, created to manifest Martin Jack's verbal and sonic Americana visions, makes its snarling appearance.
With each of Martin Jack Rosenblum's albums, bands are birthed to carry the visionary load. On "Omen Dirt (Low-5)" the Last Canyon Band plays Martin Jack's songs with a numinous vengeance.
Martin Jack Rosenblum is composer, vocalist, and on this album plays his unique guitar, harmonica and banjo styles with exceptional fury.
"Omen Dirt (Low-5)" is a modernist field recording containing an epic sink hole.

This CD is crazy good!!!!
author: CodyBored one night I looked through the CD Baby lists. Now I must say right off the top I have never in my days been affected by another's review like I was with wandering the compounds. I wanted to feel music in this way. I listened to Omen Dirt and it haunted and infected me, so I bought. Now I hope this Kelly is a woman because that's how I want to always picture this reviewer. I am so happy with this CD I cannot even express myself. Martin Jack, Last Canyon Band, awesome job of it, and buy that gal a drink!!!! Damn!!!!
Music whipped by a wind of anguish and joy.
author: Howard McCordOMEN DIRT(Low-5) is divination by pouring fertile soil over guitar strings, whipped by a wind as much anguish as joy. Martin Jack's harmonica roars like a freight train bound for Hell, the Last Canyon Band in an open ore car wailing into the night. On a recent road trip I listened to it ten times in a row, each beginning with the hauntingly beautiful "No Talk," and ending, like life, "Standing on the Gallows." It is a magnificent achievement by one of the most original and poetically brilliant of contemporary musicians.
Who are you??
author: MylaIs this poetry or music? I didn't realize things like this existed. I love it! :)
Wow!!!!
author: PeteStop what you're doing boys and girls and get your hands on Omen Dirt Low-5. I just can't get enough of "Standing on the Gallows". Wandering's right, Brilliant piece of work. Wow!!!!!!!!!!
Wicked reckoning worth well over the price of hanging!
author: Kelly, wandering the compoundWith first play push OMEN DIRT Low-5 kicks at the barn door of boredom. Harmonica without apology pulls me on board, riding "train to train" past rustic landscapes painted with poignant lyrical strokes. The dusting of omens seeps beyond barriers of safety. "There's no way to feel better about it" I was trapped in the magic of the music's unhinged raw scraping beauty. The trail moves underfoot, caught in reverse "watching the chemistry topple" gears shift with accusatory hand. Quickened pace peels away the sticky mask of social pleasantries leaving "stupid questions" finally unanswered. Plucked notes and resonating slide scratches deep into soul's garden turning the path south. A "Brilliant Stalker" leads me to the noose. Last Canyon Band, I came along quietly, tricked onto the stairs the singer's "rope was twisted and tight". Looking around for solace, given only "some matches and a guide to all the tourist spots set up so I could not run and hide". Ancient spells fell from hands struck by black bowed anguish in dark angel's fiddle. With every stick hit and cymbal crash dooms drummer flew torn pages easy to the fire. And you, tickling keys, are "as quilty as anybody in this mess". Tight strung guitars too busy to save me from vocals bleeding played on. In the silence that falls "through a trapdoor in public" I find salvation in doom..."And for that thanks a lot". Martin Jack, mystical bloody brilliant piece of work!
