notes
Follow Me to the Forest is a joyous celebration of the bohemian life, from Renaissance Faires to bonfire dances, from telephone psychics to insistent cats, from Yule feasts to lovemaking in the woods. Mostly folk in nature, Rosanna also pays tribute to her musical theatre background with “A Very Abandoned Person” from Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore, and “Be a Child in your Dancing” from Charles Butler’s play According To Us. World-renowned Sue Richards lends her Celtic harp to two songs, the poignant “Lost Child” and “Casta Diva” from the opera Norma. Rosanna’s biggest hit, “Stag of Seven Tines,” appears here in two versions: a mellifluous ballad, and a more throbbingly rhythmic arrangement for full chorus. Now better known for her post-modern take on Greek mythology in the rock opera The Passion of Persephone, Follow Me to the Forest is an affectionate look back on her earlier career.
