notes
born on the backroads that run by the rivers, bred in an amalgam of idiosyncratic styles-punk and folk, roots country and rock'n'roll, big band and classic soul-rooster and ree have emerged from nyc's lower east side with a taste for pleasing the crowds and a flair for reminding audiences how much fun 3 chords and simple harmonies can be.
their set list runs the gamut from an unabashedly country tribute to the power of the subway system to an eerie bluegrass bible story to a punk waltz about small town, usa. whenever possible, rooster and ree are joined by john "utica" convertini and andy "the one take wonder" who provide low end (double bass) and the beats (set), respectively, as well as some balancing, height and much appreciated masculinity on stage.

Get this one even if you don't ride the F Train
author: Mike EHere's a really great blast of modern old-time country/folk, and (wow) coming out of NYC too. Fans of Freakwater, or even Indigo Girls take note. My highest recommendation - put it on the walkman and crank it for that next 'F' train ride!
