notes

Yvonne Roome has been singing and acting for years. Born in
Stockholm, Sweden she came to New york at age nine. She begged her mother, who was a fashion commentator on WEVD Radio, to let her sing Swedish folk songs. At 14 her parents sent her to a vocal coach who had a studio in Carnegie Hall. Later she majored in Radio and TV at Finch College.

She spent a lot of time acting in films, soaps and commercials. Finally, she decided to concentrate on her music. For many years Yvonne performed in New York cabaret clubs such as Danny's Skylight Room, Panache, Mr. Sam's, The Sign of The Dove with Lester Lanin's band, The Jewel Box, Red Blazer Too and many more....

Yvonne's dream was to record an album. Her friend, famous jazz artist, Helen Merrill, offered to produce and Torrie Zito arranged. The album is called "Something Cool" and features Toots Thielemans. "Something Cool" received rave reviews from the New York Daily News and Backstage which encouraged Ms. Roome to produce more CDs.

Roome insists on using the best musicians. Her albums include top artists like Toots Thielemans, Bob Kindred, Ronnie Zito, Neal Kirkwood, Mark Feldman, Mike
Clark, Onaje Alan Gumbs, Horace Alexander Young and more...

Yvonne is fluent in Swedish, Portuguese, French and English and has recorded in these languages. She divides her time between Manhattan and Portugal.
