Sexsmith's songs are often intensely personal, yet his heart-felt delivery gives them a universal resonance.

notes

Ron Sexsmith is an accomplaished and well respected singer-songwriter delivering a melancholic pop-folk approach with simple, elegant melodies, accentuated use of guitars and economic application of other instruments earning him worldwide recognition and critical acclamation.

After the 1991 release of Ron’s first album "Grand Opera Lane" he signed with Interscope Records and released his self-titled album in 1995. Between 1997 and 2002 Sexsmith released four more albums including the acclaimed “Blue Boy” in 2001 and "Cobblestone Runway" in 2002 featuring the work of producer Martin Terefe, which changed the overall style of Sexsmith’s delivery to include a more lavish use of synthesizers.

The release of Rarities brings it all together showing the development of a great songwriter over the last two decades making it a collector’s item for any music fan. Featuring covers of the Boomtown Rats “I Don’t Like Mondays” and Harry Nilsson’s “Good Old Desk”, Rarities dives into a collection of rare songs from B-sides and older recordings including an original mix of “Gold in Them Hills” featuring Chris Martin of Coldplay. After listening to this album it’s not hard to understand why Ron Sexsmith is admired by fans worldwide including musicians Elvis Costello, Sarah McLachlan, Radiohead, Bill Frisell, Elton John, John Hiatt, Rod Stewart, Chris Martin, Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan.
