notes

As a solo guitar instrumentalist, Ronnda Cadle is known for melodic undertones and musical hooks she coaxes from her guitar. With over 20 years experience playing her original compositions before live audiences across the U.S., this musician from Decatur, Georgia, has developed a devoted fan base. She has shared the stage with many other well-known musicians including Sarah Bettens, Al Petteway, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Mother's Finest and 2003 American Music Award Winner, Moe Loughran. Ronnda's style fuses heartfelt emotional content with masterful guitar work. There are times when her guitar seems to speak with a charming "slow southern drawl," like Ronnda herself. She perfected her craft while listening to guitarists whom she considers her greatest mentors - Nancy Wilson of Heart, Caroline Aiken, and Emily Saliers of Indigo Girls. Ronnda says, "I wouldn't be the player I am today if it were not for these strong and amazing women. I hope to bring my own voice to the generations of women musicians who follow."

The backing musicians known as The String Poets introduce a contemporary dimension to the traditional acoustic instrumental genres. Violist Carol Statella (backup ensembles for Joni Mitchell, Brian Wilson, Cat Power) brings in the classically-inspired overtone, while weaving warm harmonies around Ronnda's melodies. Bassist Sherry Iles (Hijinx, Rache Alpert, Lo Down Brown) and Percussionist Jordan Marshall (Christy Snow, Eva Gael, Friend of the Family) deliver poignant depths within the rhythmic foundation.

Ronnda Cadle & The String Poets' latest release, "After", was produced by two-time Grammy Award Winner, Don McCollister (Third Day, Shawn Mullins, Indigo Girls).

Quotes ~

“Ronnda is an amazing technician on the guitar. She coaxes a full-voiced sound out of the instrument and the result is a confident, clear tone. She’s a melodic, hooky writer. Her songs stay with me for days.”
--Sue Ennis, Songwriter, Heart

“…the kind of music that makes you want to sit back and close your eyes”
--Sarah Bettens, K's Choice

“(After) - an enchanting album that will enthrall you with beauty, melody and passion. I cannot remember when I heard an album that has such a sweet magical blending of instrumentation. Everybody does everything right on this CD.”
--RJ Lannan, New Age Reporter

“A delightfully restrained, yet subtly subversive folk-classic hybrid, Cadle’s music is the soundtrack to a million dreams at once. A cinematic treat.”
--Lee Valentine Smith, Creative Loafing, Atlanta

“There are rare occasions when I have the opportunity to prepare dinner for my bride, open a nice bottle of wine, build a warm fire and truly enjoy life! It takes a very special record to round out these events. Ronnda Cadle has made that type of record! I hope you get the chance to see for yourself!”

Tired, annoyed, upset--you won't be after listening to this CD. An unbelievable collection of instrumental tunes, that have the charms to soothe the savage breast. These beautiful tunes envelop one's soul and elevate you to a better time and space. This is my initial exposure to the music of Ronnda Cadle & The String Poets and I am rewarded with every magnificant listen.

  • Rich in emotional content and rewards the listener over many listens
    author: Craig Spirko

I don't usually go much for contemporary instrumental music, so much of it is technical exhibition, but this is rich in emotional content and rewards the listener over many listens. The production is gorgeous, the playing sublime, and the colors and directions imaginative and sincere.
