notes

This remaster version of the 2nd album of Patrick Rondat, includes 2 bonus tracks, a multi media section as well as a brand new artwork.

You maybe saw him on stage together with Jean-Michel Jarre for the huge concert, which took place in Pekin, China, on October 10th 2004. A gigantic show which was broadcasted all over the World on TV, and which is now available on DVD.

Influenced by the early Vinnie Moore licks, Patrick is without any doubt one of the best guitar player in France... To his credit already he has already 5 instrumental albums, "Just for Fun" (1989), "Rape of the Earth" (1991) - both re-mastered and re-issued with some bonus materiel in 2002 - "Amphibia" (1996), "On the Edge" (1999, "An Ephemeral World" (2004) and a 'Live' album, "Amphibia Tour" (1997). This multi talented guitarist has also accompanied Jean Michel Jarre on stage and in studio, participated on two albums of The Consortium Project, and worked as a member of the Dutch band Elegy. During his rich career Patrick has played many 'top of the bill' concerts as well as playing support band for Blue Oyster Cult (1989), Bruce/Baker/Moore (1994), participating in Monsters of Rock (1991 - with amongst others AC/DC, Queensrÿche and Metallica), and in 1998 Patrick played the 14 French dates of the G3 Tour with Joe Satriani. Since this last Tour in 1998 we have not heard very much about his solo activities, but during this time Patrick has worked with Elegy - recording 2 albums and touring with the band. Fortunately our man is a dedicated musician and worker and never forgets the many fans who have followed him for 15 years, note-by-note, song-by-song with their fingers on the fret board of his Ibanez guitar (the mark Patrick has endorsed since 1999).

  • Patrick Rondat - RAPE OF THE EARTH (Remaster 2002)
    author: Department of Virtuosity (Poland)

Next issue in Patrick's solo output, called as above, was previously released by Food For Thought in the year 1991, then re-released by Nothing To Say in 2002. Thanks to Replica Records, Patrick's early works can be traced anew. It was recorded by 4-member line-up as follows: Patrick Rondat (guitars), Christian Namour (drums), Pascal Mulot (bass guitar) and Didier Erard (keys). These ones who have ever listened to his debut could expect equally wonderful successor and surely weren't disappointed, since Patrick recorded melodious instrumental metal with progressive riffs, rich, smart and neoclassical solos. His music is still accessible, yet tricky in faster and solo parts. He can create almost everything by means of his extraordinary technique. Thanks to his mastery, Patrick is able to break down and exceed the technical barriers making the stuff woven with evocative solos. All parts, even these most technically advanced, are viable for Patrick. He managed Django Reinhardt's "Nuages" very well proving his versatility. Although he shows off his magnificent virtuosity, he does it in a reasonable way. "Rape Of The Earth" evokes the golden eighties when virtuosos were esteemed by fans and labels. I yearn for that time. I rack my brains why his solo albums weren't published by Mike Varney's Shrapnel Records? His music is comparable to Tony MacAlpine's "Edge of Sanity" and "Maximum Security" and Joey Tafolla's "Out of the Sun". Moreover, there are Johann Sebastian Bach's and Antonio Vivaldi's souls hovering over Patrick's works. "Rape Of The Earth" is a consecutive work of musical art. A preciousness! It's an item that overshadows thousands of mediocre albums. It is so, because Patrick Rondat is a prodigy whose musical talent is immeasurable. Everything he touches is turned to gold. I am sure this stuff has been inspirational for many young guitarists and hope it carries on. Mr. Rondat is a guitar ace par excellence. If you are avid for the eighties, let's come back to them with Patrick himself and his superhuman music!
