I'm Claus Rogge. I've been a guitarist since 1968, working with homerecording since 1977 and have now got a fully digital studio (Apple G5) at home. I play a variety of guitars, bass, and Chapman Stick. Some of my pieces are mainly vehicles for improving my improvisational skill (like improvising in 15/8 or on real crazed changes) and some are composed and have been thought about for a long time before I record them. I studied classical guitar with Heinz Irmler in Graz (he´s a remarkable person, BTW!) but think of myself as a jazzer by now. Influences go from Ockeghem via Josquin, Gesualdo, Monteverdi, Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Bruckner, Mahler, Schoenberg, Bartok, Prokofiew, Messiaen to Parker, Miles, Coltrane, Mahavishnu, the Beatles, Who, Frank Zappa, ELP, Yes, Holdsworth (but I think you´ve got the picture by now!).
This is my fifth recording. Sometimes I think I have arrived at "my style" by now but I´ll probably be wiser soon!
