Breath-taking
author: SuseJust when you think you've heard it all (and after 20+ years in the music business, you do kinda think that, sometimes....), along comes a singer-songwriter who knocks your socks off AND reminds you why you stay in this business AND persuades you to fall in love with music all over again. Rob Szabo. His melodies are amongst the best songbombs I know, and his lyrics...smart, funny, scary-sharp. Rob is the lovechild of Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne, Dan Fogelberg and Todd Rundgren. (Don't think about that too hard--you'll be just fine.) And if you have a chance to see him in person--GO!
wonderful
author: Jamie LeshRob is powerful and his songs "bring the pain" to quote his own lyrics. If you have the chance to see him in concert, go! He's even more moving and emotional in person, and you can really tell he loves what he's doing.
Phenomenal
author: avivaThe best music is not simply an aural experience -- give yourself over to it and it will enter your veins like adrenaline. Rob Szabo's voice and music seem always to be in the service of his songs, and each is a world unto itself -- tackling subjects that range from troubled relationships to alcoholism to paralyzing fear and failure. See if you can keep these songs from inhabiting your life. This is a brilliant musician at his best. Buy it. Now.
