ROB GILES
This Is All In Your Mind
"I am spellbound by this album I have not been able to stop listening to, investigating, poring over. An album in the true sense, these ten songs play out like a loving and spiritual conversation between two people helping one another through a tough time. And its honesty is so amazingly relatable to me and my hard times, I am almost blushing at times, and tearfully relieved at others. There is such maturity and depth in the compelling lyrics. There is an amazing letter inside of the CD case (and beautiful liner notes!) that I hope to never lose. It is a companion piece to the unfolding of hope that is "This is all in your mind". One of the best albums of the year for sure, I will recommend this CD and artist to everyone who enjoys being emotionally stirred by new music. A true artist, one I have been waiting for for a long time. Bright Eyes, Sufjan Stevens, Jeff Buckley, Rob Giles. He is brilliant."

By the time Giles was 17 he had released his first solo album “Just a Dream,” for which he played all of the instruments. After attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Giles completed his second solo album, “Straight Down a Crooked Road” and began touring the Northeast. While playing sold out shows in New York and Boston, Giles’ refreshing sound garnered such critical acclaim from such local media outlets as Time Out New York and the Village Voice and received prestigious awards from ASCAP, DISCMAKERS, the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, and NEMO among others.

Giles then moved to Nashville and formed a new band that shared the stage with such rock legends as Kid Rock, Big and Rich, Gretchen Wilson, The Features, and Will Hoge. Soon after, Giles secured a publishing deal with Sony/ATV/Big Alpha, which has given him the opportunity to write with such legendary songwriters as Willie Nelson, Collective Soul, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, N’SYNC and many other heavy hitters.
Giles has cultivated a healthy following in Dallas, New England, New York and Tennessee, and is rapidly developing a solid fan base in his new home of Los Angeles. Momentum is growing even more as Rob’s songs are being cut by numerous other artists and are showing up in television shows and films. Most recently, he has been heard on MTV’s hit show Laguna Beach and the WB’s “One Tree Hill. Giles also scored the award winning Sundance and Tribeca Film Festival feature “212.” Rob has been writing with Billy Mann (Pink, Jessica Simpson, etc), The Wallflowers, American Hi-Fi, Nick Lachey and more. His production work is being sought after by many up and coming artists. His new album “This Is All In Your Mind” will be released in the 4th quarter of 2006.

  • A must buy for your cd collection

I have had the pleasure of seeing rob giles perform alongside his girlfriend laura, and his musicianship as well as his vocals blew me away. So, after having a little musical taste I had to hear more. I then decided to buy his cd, and I am glad I did. It's amazing and it is such a beautiful idea of a personally handwritten note sort of a letter that interweaves all of his songs in it that is included in each cd case. I love john lennon, broken people, and boom bang. Keep up the good work, rob way to go!! :-)

  • This cd is a true work of art.
    author: Jessica

This cd is beautiful! Every note he sings is deeply felt, his lyrics are a perfect blend of poetry and reality. Its hard for me to choose a favorite song. I was lucky enough to see him perform, and the minute he started to sing Your Not Listening, I was blown away. Then, he sang Tambourine and I think I'm still holding my breath. This cd is truly a gift to the world. Every song is a work of art.

  • AWESOME!

  • Best album I've bought this year
    author: Teresa

This is all in Your Mind has got to be the best album I have bought this year. I picked up The Fray's How to Save a Life back in August, and thought THAT was the best record of the year. Then I heard You're Not Listening. And then Meds. And then Tambourine. And I was floored. There is something for everyone on this record. Gorgeous ballads and love songs thrown together with kick-your-ass songs you won't have a choice but to rock out to. This record is a must buy! A crowd pleaser! With a voice that is mildly reminiscent of Prince, and lyrics that make your brain wrap itself around ideas on life, love, and self medication, this record simply does not disappoint. A good representation of the artist that is Rob Giles.

  • Amazing Album
    author: Hi Park

Rob Giles has put together an amazing album. These are great songs that tell stories, not always happy-but REAL stuff. This is a complete album that follows a theme. All of these are unique tracks. Well-written, well-produced and excellently executed. Rob is an amazing talent and we'll be hearing a lot more about these songs in the future. Great stuff from a guy that started in a Rush cover band!

  • ONe of the strongest albums I"ve ever heard
    author: myspacefan

This album never once lost me. I went on a ride from the first to the last song. Rob's voice is incredible; strong and powerful and then vulnerable and intimate. The packaging is unique and there's a surprise inside. If you're fans of John Mayer, The Beatles, Martin Sexton, Ray Lamontagne you'll be instantly hooked. This guy is going to be huge. Meds kicked my ass. Tambourine is amazing and You're Not Listening should be in the movies.

  • Best singer songwriter!!
    author: Poohbear

This cd is amazing! I have heard so many songwriters lately and there is just no comparison, Rob Giles is awesome! You have to buy this cd, especially for the holiday season. You would really LOVE it!

  • This Is All In Your Mind RULES
    author: Lyndsey French

Rob Giles' newest contribution to the world of music far surpasses expectation as he merges together an entire spectrum of emotions and sounds to create a firework display that can only be explained as magnificent. He takes us on a journey through the dark and light, the autobiographical and fictional, brings us full circle after 10 tracks, each one genius in a separate and original way.

  • Talented Musician, Beautiful CD

Rob Giles has created an amazing cd. Some artists' cds can't compare to their live shows, but these songs *do*- they are so well crafted and the music is beautiful and it is simply perfect. Complete brilliance- put your money to good use and purchase this cd!

  • wonderful album from first track till the end
    author: w. fitzsimmons

mr. giles has the uncommon and brilliantly refreshing quality of being not only a haunting singer and intelligent writer (not to mention a fantastic musician!)...but has managed to make a full and complete 'album' in the traditional sense of the word. though the songs are varied with interesting and attractive arrangements/instrumentation, they are weaved into a whole that is as coherent as it is enjoyable to listen to. this is one of those rare cds you won't need to even approach the 'track skip' button...not even once. wonderful.

  • FANTASTIC CD!
    author: Allan James

I love this CD. I especially love " John Lennon". Very cool concept. Rob has a great voice and the arrangements are very creative. On " Broken People" I like the drum programming and the melody is very haunting."too Many Voices" has a lot of great synth sounds. I also recommend " The Jangles" sold here at CD Baby. Very Beatle sounding. Thanks, Allan
