One of the clearest voices I've heard in years
author: Jenny BrooksThis is definitely one of the best cds I've heard in a long time. The music took me on a walk down memory lane and just totally relaxed me. Bob's voice is clear and confident, and VERY right on, which made the songs he picked sound even better. I LOVED his renditions of Mr. Bojangles and The Boxer.
WOW!!!!!!
author: Donna RayeWhen I heard this CD, I was not surprised by the talent portrayed by Robert Matter. I first heard Robert sing back in 1972 and I was impressed with what I heard. I happened to stumble across this website and "re-discovered" him. What a pleasure to hear him once again. He has not lost the touch of what I heard 30 years ago. BUY THIS CD!!!! You will not be disappointed.
Pure and real, totally Bob.
author: Doug SpohnBob and I collaborated on song writing and performing 30 years ago when we met each other in Korea while in the military. I haven't seen him since 1973. I can honestly say that this CD reflects a songwriter/singer who has stayed the course. His vocals and musical arrangements take you back to a time when people put their egos on the line and bared their souls on stage. This CD is exactly that...and more. Nothing artificial. What a treat.
Warm relaxing easy going laid back sound
author: Pat PfisterRoberts clear vocals and selection of great compositions makes this CD a must for music lovers to include in their library of contemporary classics. Choose a special cuisine your favorite wine and dim the lights and be ready to rediscover treasured memories.
Robert Matters' CD, "Songman" is easy on the ears!
author: Greg TrafidloIn a word, "Songman" is delightful. Robert Matter has done a superb job assembling a group of songs, which showcase his pleasant vocal style and guitar talents, as well as reflect his musical influences. This CD is a tribute to the songwriting of popular artists such as Harry Chapin, Kris Kristofferson, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and others. But there is one important difference between "Songman" and other cover compilations, and that is Robert Matters' delivery and interpretation. I enjoyed Roberts renditions of contemporary folk standards such as, "Mr. Tambourine Man", Kenny Loggins "Please Come To Boston", and the Carson and Thompson hit, "The Letter". What makes this CD special is the smile in Robert Matters voice. There are few song interpreters that have that quality. Steve Goodman and Jimmy Buffet come to mind. Not bad company! You can tell Matter knows these songs inside out and he makes them his own. Master guitarist Stephan Bennett on both guitar and bass; which adds to this listener's enjoyment, joins Robert. And Kim Persons engineering served the songs and Robert Matters' voice. "Songman" is ear candy and stands up to repeated listening.
I really enjoyed the cd, a beautiful voice and accompaniment,
