notes

Robert Heale Mason has been singing and playing instruments since childhood. Educated at Holbrook School in Suffolk, England, he studied music theory and learned to play the trumpet, drums and guitar while also continuing to develop his voice. He played with Rock, Jazz and Choral ensembles and, after leaving school, with the Medway Dance Orchestra, a big band playing Glenn Miller style arrangements. By the age of eighteen he had played at some major venues, including Chatham Town Hall and Earls Court in London.

At Medway College in Kent he studied English Literature and History and subsequently moved to London to live and work. In the early 1970's he spent a lot of time traveling and playing throughout the USA, Canada and Europe. In the mid 70's he was lead guitarist with a Band called "Ace of Clubs", mostly playing Rock and Pop standards throughout the South of England. Seeking a change of career, he moved on to attain an Honors Degree in Developmental Psychology from the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. He trained as a Post Graduate in Clinical Psychology at St. Francis Hospital and Collwood School in Haywards Heath, Sussex. Prior to moving to Florida in the USA he lectured in General, Social and Developmental Psychology, Statistics and Experimental Design at Eastbourne College in Sussex, England. Musically life was quiet and he played only small local gigs and private parties during this time.

Upon first moving to the USA he taught guitar lessons and sold instruments at the Broward Music Center in Fort Lauderdale. Unable to get a band organized he began looking for solo opportunities and developed a two handed playing style based on the technique of his mentor Michael Bianco. His first CD, released in the summer of 2005 is Angelic Mythology, a collection of original songs that echo both Classic Rock and New Age themes.

In addition to his musical interests Robert Mason is the Founder and Shihan (Chief Instructor) for MuDoKai Martial Arts and Commissioner for the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) the world-wide governing body for kickboxing.

  • I like it, I like it, I love it!!!!!
    author: Sue Thompson

This CD is bringing me pleasure - more - each time I listen to it. Robert Mason is all new to me, but I like it - no - I love it. Hope he's just getting started and will produce more of his unique sound. It is definitely a "lie-back-listen-and-get-lost-in-the-music" type of sound. More, more, more!

  • Since listening the music has made appearances in my dreams.
    author: Rosemary Mackay-Camp

It brought me back to a more innocent time, listening to Golden ring made me remember something fleeting but happy. Like the sense of smell, music can plug right into memory central. So since listening the music has made appearances in my dreams. I am not a music critic nor am I well versed in musical know-how, all I am left with is how your music affected me Thank you

  • Melodic and harmoniious with a rock edge
    author: Ann Harris

Angelic Mythology is a collection of songs with different tonal landscapes which leads the listener into a world of alternate realities. This music conjures euphoric images and states of consciousness without drugs. Enjoy the trip!
