notes
river crombie was born in the same fashion as any other warm-blooded creature of this earth. but listening to his music, it’s easy to imagine that he might simply have arisen from the fragrant, nurturing floor of the forest he loves so well one misty dawn, all of a piece. He is in this world but somehow, not quite of it. rare are such souls, who are driven to always strive toward something deeper, to search out a truth so completely essential to their being yet so elusive, even at the expense of living a so-called “normal” life. it is their ceaseless longing, the constant reaching for beauty, the urgent insistence on nothing less than transcendence, which draws heaven a bit closer to earth for all of us. river was born a poet and musician, discovered himself as such while still a young child, and so he continues. those harsh trials of human existence which might have undone him have instead been refined into a timeless treasure; one we can hear with our ears and feel with our hearts. and we are glad.

Poetic
author: BarbaraI discovered River's music after just having re-discovered John Martyn after many years. The point of that being that I think River carries on a musical style/tradition that came out of England and Scotland in the 60s with Martyn, Nick Drake and some of the other early Island recording artists. River's guitar playing is really impressive...but what's most striking about the recording - to me - is it's really poetic quality and his focus – which is pared down to the human essentials.
River Crombie
author: Chris Todar of KrisingerI bumped into River Crombie's music just a couple of months ago, ordered his CD, and it has since received most of the attention from my musical ear ever since. If you're into finger-styled guitar work and the straightforward sounds and poetic explorations of a folk inspired songwriter, I highly recommend this CD!
timeless and natural
author: rosemarythe music on this cd has a timeless quality... the fluid, delicate guitar style and river's gentle voice and poetic phrasing resonate with a quiet, unaffected grace that's rare in today's music market. when i'm not able to get out for a peaceful walk in the woods, this cd is the next best thing. it's beautiful.
