Modern, melodic, heavy, prog. art rock that dares to speak for the silenced.

notes

Every day, each of us feels the rising waters of Terras Fames--"The world's poverty of expression." Our lives grow ever more restrained, our options continue to dwindle, and the waves of cultural famine spread out, starving minds closed that would otherwise be opened. Enter Rishloo.

Drawing on personal experience, and deriving inspiration from relevant human challenges and the music of great artists, Rishloo combines their influences with a uniquely climactic, emotionally intense modern rock sound creating an original musical experience that still retains familiarity. With an infallible purpose and an imaginative style, Rishloo aims to help begin a musical revolution by reaching out to all those who would dare to turn the tide.

From these persons, Rishloo's dedicated fan base continues to grow from mailing list sign-ups, word of mouth, creative advertising and directed links from many other websites. To date, the band has distributed over 4,000 three-track EP's, the majority in the Seattle area, but with orders in various other states and countries as far away as Australia.

Rishloo has performed at several respected venues while their live shows have been very well received by all-ages and 21+ audiences alike. Although relatively new on the scene, the band is making strides and is gaining great local acclaim.

  • LOVE IT!

Bought this CD at a live Rishloo show in PDX - one of the few CD's I've bought while the band's still onstage to make sure I get one. Don't hesitate to buy this CD or see these guys live, they're an EXPERIENCE that you won't regret! Ooh! And they're nice guys to boot - approaching them as just some random new fan actually generated a cool conversation :)

  • Phenominal

This CD has some great songs on it, it was definately worth the money to buy it and the wait to receive it. I can't freakin stop listening to the thing! Blitz is probably the best song i've ever heard in my life.

  • Powerfull!
    author: Brad

A very powerfull album. Very operatic with climatic peaks and lows. Similar to Tool/A Perfect Circle but with it's own distinctive sound. One of the best albums out there that you can buy.

  • Excellent Album, Essential purchase

Amazing Album. Recommended for fans of tool, APC etc. Standout tracks include - "The water is fine" and "Lovely Room". If you buy this CD you will not be dissappointed.

  • Great rock album!

This could be a five star album but i think that the influenses are to obvious. They realy do sound like A Perfect Circle, even Tool influenses can be heard. The sound is a little less dark and with a bit more melody, but they do a realy god work. All the musicans are realy god! They use a complex song structure with great hooks. Together with Cire this band is the best A perfect Circle, Tool "copy" out there!

  • i cant stop listening to it

Similar to Tool,A Perfect Circle...but they are of their own...amazing CD

  • my new favorite band
    author: Bobby

If you like bands like Tool and A Perfect Circle, you'll love Rishloo. My only gripe would be that Terras Fames is only about fifty minutes, and several of the tracks are just ambient sound that you'd expect to lead into a song. Great band though.

  • Well Written and proformed Prog-Rock Album

I am pleased with my purchase. If you like Maynard James Keenan's vocals you will like Rishloo. Great lyrics and band chemistry.

  • This CD is the best.
    author: Marcus Kristjanson

I listen to this CD all the time, I'm listening to it right now. There is no reason why I should choose a different CD to listen to when this is right at my fingertips. It's awsome.

  • Superb
    author: Telza

It's Tool crossed with dredg; a wonderful blend of aztec metal with calm soothing passion. Not totally unique - Tool's influences can be felt throughtout; however, Terras Fames still maintains an aura of unorthodoxy. A superb album - also if you like this, I'd recommend in lake ch' by the Mayan Factor (or vice-versa). Cheers

  • Do not miss this.

Perhaps my favorite thing about Terras Fames is that each song could be two songs. You get about 3 minutes of one style and in the middle of the song it changes around and gives you the rest of it in a whole new way. For example- Harlequin. This might just be my favorite cut off Terras Fames. It starts out slow and sweet, almost achingly so, with subdued guitars and Drew effortlessly attaining and maintaining the high end of his vocals. But midway into the song, the guitar and rythym section becomes more aggressive, and Drew's vocals follow suit, trading in the high notes for a raspy half-scream. This part of the song always leaves me stunned. Rishloo's tapestry of guitar, drums, and bass alternates between seductive, and crashing, depending on the nuances of singer Drew's voice. On songs like Romance of a Dead Kingdom, the instrumentals allow the vocals to take the forefront; weaving around and under the voice but never overshadowing it. Drew’s voice is beautiful, capable of being both bitter and sweet- compelling, seductive, and assured. On the heavier songs like Blitz or Illumination, the music rises up in crescendos, subsiding at the singer's voice and then overtaking it, not a tapestry now, but dark, unquiet water, barely held within the boundaries of its format. Despite the inevitable comparisons, I find Terras Fames wholly original. I hope to hear a lot more from Rishloo in the near future. If you haven't taken a chance on this CD yet, do it now.

  • great new music like it used to be
    author: eric

From the moment you pump up the volume on this CD, you realize that you're in for a treat. The music is fresh air in the smog filled world of the latest grunge/pop/rap trap. Rishloo understand that one hit wonders are not worth the effort and the songs on this CD demonstrate that they will evolve into something we may be talking about for a very long time. Know them now so you can say you knew them before it was trendy.

  • One of the more impressive new albums I've heard recently.
    author: Amanda C.

This is an excellent first cd for Rishloo. The melody is an excellent juxtaposition of hauntingly beautiful moments of fleeting notes, and times of raw, amp-scraping seat-squirming talent on the instruments. The singer is a very pleasant surprise, with a vocal range rarely seen anymore. This, cradled by the skillful hands of the bassist, guitarist, and drummer and woven into the fantastic lyrics makes this a must-have. There are a great deal of bands out there that are passionate about their music, but it is very rare that one can actually hear that passion in said band's songs.

  • The CD is definitely awesome!

  • Amazing songwriting and lyrical ability
    author: Marcus Brody

This album is incredible.......*cold chills*. My favorite songs include Romance of a Dead Kingdom, Harlequin, The Water is Fine and Fames. The songs are very emotional, intense and meaningful in content. I really love the last two tracks, Terras and Fames. Its a very climactic song....beautifully written. There is something cool at the end of this song, but i won't give it away. Harlequin and Romance of a Dead Kingdom are standout songs. Harlequin is schizophrenic in such a way that Rishloo is able to bring two diverse and different elements together to form a song that is unique and hauntingly beautiful. Romance of a Dead Kingdom starts the album. It sets the stage for the building, melodic, impactful lyric delivery that is found throughout this CD. If you are into new, melodic, meaningful, intensely beautiful rock, then I highly recommend picking up this CD.
