Acoustic guitar driven songs with great melodies and ten ton hooks.

notes

"When I first picked up a guitar at fifteen years old, I had no idea it would become the dominant theme of my life." Now at 24 years old, Josh has spent the last nine years playing in venues in the NY/NJ area, honing his writing and performing skills, and gaining a loyal fan base along the way. Josh has a powerful vocal style reminiscent of John Popper (Blues Travler) and Steven Page (Bare naked ladies). An accomplished guitar player, with his touring schedule continuing to grow, Josh's style has captured the attention of fans at his live shows. With a rapidly expanding fan base, his reputation as a wiity songsmith and powerful performer has continued to grow. He has shared the stage with name acts such as Vertical Horizon, Robert Matarazzo, Brian Fitzpatrick, John Taglieri, Dakota, and others. Having played with numerous bands/songwriters, as well as working as a studio musician he is also gaining a reputation on the local scene amongst his peers. Josh's debut solo album, "24 Miles" , with songs produced by Josh Rifkin and John DeGrazio (Jars of Clay, Burlap to Cashmere), showcases his "story teller" lyrical style and is conversational, and witty, occasionally delving into profound. It's a debut that will firmly put this performer on the map and start his career off on a high note.

" Keep your eyes on Josh Rifkin. His winning combination of a story tellinglyrical style and accomplished guitar unveil his true talent. Don't let his age fool you..I believe its only a matter of time before fame is evident. His CD "24 Miles" is quickly gaining attention."

“The production is really stellar. Really nice song structure, variety, and melody. The lyrics are right on as well.”

This CD feels like your favorite book that is never far from your reach. You will take comfort & be glad to listen to each song many times. Always taking away something else. Soothing sounds that tell a story. A Musical gift to the ears, heart & soul.

The songs tell an incredible story with pure honesty; with words and feelings that you can ACTUALLY RELATE TO! Perfection at it's very best!

Great CD - Though nothing can compare to seeing him live, this CD will have you checking where and when he's playing.

Too bad I can only give this 5 stars...doesn't seem like quite enough. You will want to listen to 24 miles once for the stories and again for the extraordinary musicianship. After that you won't need to be told to listen again because by that time you will be hooked. It's hard to believe that this is a debut CD. Josh's lyrics leave you feeling like you have known him for years. His voice conveys the emotion of each song with a totally believable sincerity through the whole range from the powerful (Where It All Begins) to empathetic observer (Dignity) to playful (Blame It On Me). The music is so real and interesting that it is timeless...I have played this CD for both my father and my daughters and everyone loves it. The band and various contributors come together with a surprising tightness and the production is very clean. Whoever you are and whatever you're into if you love original music you can't go wrong with this one.
