Ricky Lewis

When you find an artist that embraces and embodies the genuineness of Eric Clapton with the harmonies and vocals of Dave Mason, the performance of Bruce Springsteen and puts the same depth of storytelling in their songs as Little Feat, you have an artist who isn't following the latest trend. Ricky Lewis incorporates and expands upon all of these influences in his own R&B Rock style.

In his new CD, Songs For The New Depression, Ricky details his wide range of melodic Blues to high energy Rock songs that chronicle theyears of his life and his personal philosophy. A philosophy which projects that your life is what you make it. Take control of it and decide where you want it to go.

This theme is introduced right from the beginning in songs like Destiny. A challenge to every now and then put your life in perspective. See where you want it to go instead of letting the everyday problems of life get the best of you. This message is carried forward in Live Or Die where Ricky points out that some people seem to be in "slow motion". Just waiting for life to direct them instead of them deciding their fate.

Ricky Lewis is one of the few artists that still remembers that music can be a source of inspiration and motivation as well as entertainment.

Songs For The New Depression is a wake up call to everyone to watch where you are headed in life.

  • Ricky is THE man!
    author: Rikk Beatty

If I had to describe the album in one word I would say "Soulful". Not soul like R&B but soul like you can tell this music came from the soul. A cool collection of tunes that each one "says something". I love this album. Its in my car and its been playin' whenever I am driving since I got the album!

  • Ricky's music is Wonderful - just like I remember it!

Ricky has always been a master guitarist with such a tremendous talent and a definate goal. I knew him as a young man with a great desire to make his music the absolute BEST. I am very proud of his success and am very proud to have known him. GOOD JOB Ricky! I love your music!

  • Axe Master Supreme
    author: Gregory MacKinnon

Ricky Lewis is a master guitarist. This CD, "Songs For The New Depression", demonstrates Ricky's mastery of many guitar styles, ranging from jazz, to incendiary rock-fusion, to pop, to delta blues. Ricky's guitar playing is certainly both technically superb and of the highest caliber on this disc. But it is more than that. On this disc he expresses a depth and range of emotion that establishes him as a lyrical artist of the first degree. As if this sort of mastery of an instrument isn't enough, Ricky also demonstrates mature compositional abilities on this disc too. To top it all off Ricky has a voice that is honest, sincere and capable of expressing the human condition with true conviction. This guy is a star, and I hope that we see and hear many more CDs in the future!

THis CD is awesome - Ricky's got the groove! The best thing about this CD is that each song grabs you - they aren't all alike, but vary in their styles and influences. If you haven't had an opportunity to see him live, check him out - his guitar playing is phenomenal!

  • Masterful, Powerful and indeed Dynamic Collection of Music
    author: B. Lewis

The Ricky Lewis Band’s “Songs for the new Depression” is a masterful, yet powerful and indeed dynamic work. The wide range of music styles and artful handling of those styles shows maturity that usually only comes after many years of music exposure. Masterful guitar playing through out, with a very interesting spin with the metallic sound of the steel guitar in “Down and Out Blues” plus the scratches made me think it was a 78 rpm from the Jimmy Rogers area. The whole band is a stand out and the vocals are great, it gets better every time you hear it.

  • Top Notch A#1
    author: A Varas

In our society of over produced music that has no soul it's very refreshing to hear an artist that knows that it's the music that counts. The cd has a slightly gritty feel to it which is reflective of the title, because the things in life that count love, pain and struggle are never clean or easy. I found the songs meaningful and inspirational on many different levels. Technically the cd is very well done the guitar playing is top notch and the vocals are good as well. This cd starts out with hard driving sound that never stops, and in the end it will leave you begging for more.

ricky lewis band is awesome -the feelings i get from listening to his songs range from interspective true life feelings to good ol' rock and roll--my favorite song is do it for love--man the guitar work is right there and the feeling in ricky's voice just grab your soul--i predict that some day in the near future this boy is going to be noticed--

  • Nice pop blues music
    author: George P

As I listened to this, I kept thinking I had this guy figured out. I would hear Clapton influence. Then the next song would start and I'd hear Springsteen. I thought I heard some Little Feat influence there too. I even heard a touch of Charlie Daniels Band on this CD. Lewis is hard to pinpoint. The band is tight and the songs are very good.

  • Diverse, Powerful, Musical, Funky, emotional and dynamic!!!
    author: R Cowles

The Ricky Lewis Band CD is indeed an entertaining piece of work. The lead voice is so unique and the power of the performance is great. This guy really knows his stuff. It seems like he is well aquainted with mutiple styles of popular music from many time periods. There's a style of music for everybody included in this CD. It's a clean and well recorded CD. The guitar playing in outstanding. These songs are very rememberable and fun to listen to.
