I first discovered the bowed psaltery in 1980. After first being drawn to the beautiful, haunting sound I was amazed at how easy it was to play. I built my first one that same year from a crude set of plans that had been published in Great Britain in the 60's.
Two of my great passions in life are music and woodworking so creating musical instruments from wood is something I have always known I would do. I am always thrilled when I notice that someone is reacting to the beautiful sound of the bowed psaltery as I first did.
This is my first recording of music featuring the bowed psaltery. My second one is being planned.

Different sound than expected but still enjoy listening to it.
author: Nancy MowerDaughter is getting a psaltery and I wanted to hear the sound of it. Now I am excited to hear my daughter play this instrument. Enjoy listening to this CD.
