notes
My name is Rickie Fox. I was born and raised in Danville, Virginia though much of my young life was spent traveling and playing with various bands. When I was 5 or 6 my Dad (who was a great guitar player) would drag me out to play and sing for his band-mates. I knew from that early age that music was what I wanted to do.
I played in my first live band, The Empires, which later became the Imperials when I was 10. They replaced me because I was too young and at 11 I joined Gene and the Teambeats and started playing drums. I did my first 2 recordings with the Teambeats. At age 14, I left the Teambeats and joined the Soulmasters. Over the years with them I played drums, guitar, bass, and saxophone. When the Soulmasters disbanded I started City Council. This band played continuously all over the southeast. In 1975 I had a regional hit record,”Come On Danny.” I had several recordings after 'Danny' but with less success.
Today I have my own studio, and have produced projects for other artists as well as myself.
Over the years I have appeared onstage with such artists as Otis Redding, the Shangrilas, Percy Sledge, Eddie Floyd, Arthur Connely, Major Lance, Clifford Curry, The Tams, The Showmen, The Drifters and many others.
I have written and played many different styles of music over the years and now I bring all of these influences back home to the music that I love.
