notes
This is my solo album number 11. Hey, I go to eleven! (just like the amp volume knob in the movie "This Is Spinal Tap")! But seriously folks, there are times in one's life when you get to know someone who really believes in you... who accepts you for who you are... who understands most everything about you... and who loves good music. I am fortunate enough to know a person like that. She is one of my best friends, even though we have never met in person. She lives in Genova, Italy. The cover of the CD shows a photo of some marble portal-watchers in Genova that I took when I was there in June of 2006. I put this photo on the pickguard of my black Rogue ST-3 strat copy (see front left guitar on the inside cover photo).
More stories about the songs: "I Can Believe" was inspired by my Italian friendship. The song "I'm Here" was originally written and recorded for the independent film "Blur" (http://www.blur-movie.com). All 3 versions here on this album were under consideration for use in the film, but none of these 3 were used afterall. However, another version was finally chosen. A version sung by my good friend and musical colleague Amy Meyers (see Amy's CDs here at cdbaby.) The Amy version is not included here, as it is currently intended for use only in the soundtrack of the movie. "All Of This Time" is an enigmatic exercise in pop music. "Book In The Pond" is a touch surreal, and the music was almost used for a new Zru Vogue project song. "Blind Leading The Blind" is just a fun song to play rhythm guitar on! and gave me a chance to do a guitar solo using the tremolo effect on my Vox AD50VT amp. "Top Of The World" is a lullabye-ish song that can be about the great high feeling one gets from experiencing real love, and was inspired by a recent new friendship of mine. "Take Only What You Need" is a song that came to me by way of the muse; a song with lyrics inspired by what is now a combination of troubled and selfish times in the world, and conversely a time of helping others to help one to realize the wonder of "giving"... something that is very important and rewarding... Do it. You'll feel better. :)
I hope you enjoy the music! and thanks for listening.
