"Rick Altizer has managed to make one of the best pop albums of the year. Imagine the Beatles using only scripture for lyrics and you've got a great idea of what Pop Symphonies is all about." Dr. Tony Shore - Obvious Pop

notes
“Billy Jean is not my lover. She’s just a girl who claims that I am the one, but the kid is not my son.” Why do I know that? I don’t even want to know that. I know that lyric because I’ve heard the song about a zillion times. I can not quote you more than half a dozen scriptures, but I can quote you Michael Jackson. What’s wrong with this picture?
Three years in the making, “Scripture Memory – Pop Symphonies” has been a labor of love for me. It was my desire to make a Scripture Memory record that you would actually enjoy listening to. I decided to do my best to make an excellent record in hopes that you would listen to it multiple times. After repeated listening, the scriptures would be forever lodged in your brain.
Strings, horns, pianos, walls of guitars, stacks of vocals… the kitchen sink approach (hey, it’s me), all to coerce you to listen, again and again.
I hope you enjoy memorizing these scriptures as much as I enjoyed recording them.
Blessings,
Rick Altizer

Hooked again
author: claudius scheuYou've got me hooked again. To be honest, I didn't think this could happen again. Here in Germany it seemed that you simply stopped recording and making music. Thank God you didn't. Thank you Rick for this one. Noone could sing "Ephiiisssiaaaans four twentynine" like you.
scripture memory
author: kees van zonThis is nice.... I keep checking what Beatle songs are playing in the back of Rick's head when he composed this, but hearing Bible versus on Beatle- like music is real nice! thanks!
Pop ROCKS!
author: K CaldwellWhat an incredible way to hide God's word in your heart. Thanks for making Scripture memorization so fun. Rick Altizer's Pop Symphonies rocks!
What a fun CD!
author: Rebecca AkinI bought this CD for my mom for Christmas but had to sample it before I gave it to her. Such catchy songs with the benefit of memorizing scripture!
We Love You Rick!
author: Michael KalhounWhat a great CD in perfect Rick Altizer style. Anyone who has listened to Rick over the years knows what a masterful songwriter he is. If you love Scripture Memory, you will love his other work. Try Neon Fixation, Go Nova or Blue Plate Special. They are all good in a style that is distinctly Rick. A man who shares a passion for Jesus Christ in all that he does.
Heard it at C-stone 2007 and had to have it!
author: Ned BustardGreat tunes that really engage you -- and then all of a sudden you realize that they are scripture memory songs! Now we are driving all around listening to them for fun. We also plan to use them to help teach the kids Bible verses this Fall....
Can it get any better?
author: Ben JohnsonCan a cd get any better than this? Great lyrics (cannot get much better than the TRUTH!) and great catchy music that continues to repeat in your head! Rick, you did a tremendous job on this one and did I mention that the price is right?!!! A mere $10. Come on, what is the catch? Thanks, Rick, do it again soon.
Well crafted. Good for memorization.
author: Ben WrightI don't like the Beatles and I really have never been a fan of this style of music. My tastes run...harder. The concept is one that I have been thinking about for a while and one that is needed. I read a review at Phantom Tollbooth and decided to listen to the samples on the website. The music is very well done. I still don't love the style, but the execution is perfect and the skill needed to pull this off and make it salable is tremendous. I love the CD and listen to it a lot. I do find myself singing the songs and thereby remembering those scriptures. I reviewed this for a quarterly publication I write for and bought 10 for our church.
Absolutely "Fab" CD Rick!
author: Tony WolfHey Rick, Jade told me about your CD and so I came home and bought one on his recommendation. I was already a fan of yours and of your work with DDR but this project was your best by far! "Turn My Eyes Away" reminds me so much of ELO and "Think About These Things" is like a combination of "Free As A Bird" and Lennon's "Mind Games." I also love that the lyrics are straight scripture. Your ability to sing difficult lines and to handle the timing of those phrases is amazing. I love the BGV's and the string arrangements too. The boys from Liverpool would be proud!
Great cd Rick!! I like all the arrangements!!
author: Dawn LenigerRick, you did a great job on this one. I can hear all of those influences mentioned in the email and Traffic too in the 8th song. I almost thought I heard Neal Morse in there somewhere! I've listend to this several times already and want to share it with a youth group at Casablanca's in White House. You definitely sing the songs in your mind and it really does make it easy to remember the verses. Thanks! It makes you feel good. You can tell a lot of effort and love was put into it. Great mix ~ You're the man!!
A listening pleasure
author: John QuintilianI find Rick Altizer's new CD titled Scripture Memory Pop Symphonies a wonderful addition to my collection. I am 40 years old, so I remember the Beatles and David Bowie, and some of the tracts really tack me back. I have listened only three times, but I find myself singing the passages while doing other things--just as promised. I love it.
I really like song 11. It's my favourite
author: JulianMy dad says you're famous. Thank you for the CD, you sing about God which is cool. I really liked song 11. Be Kind to One Another. Is this about me and my brother. Thank you. My dad says hi. (note from Dad. Julian is 10, and his favourite bands are Billy Talent, Saga, and They Might Be Giants - he also likes Rick Altizer too)
