Album magic is the culmunation of twenty years of effort building a home studio and learning the skills to exploit the various instruments, processors, and recorders. Everything is produced in house. The creative process is usually intuitive, using mostly spontaneous improvisations. I never know exactly what the finished product will sound like until it's done. Depends on mood. Usually just one try does it. Tracks are laid one by one. There are few retakes. I study dreams, and feel the unconscious is a great reservoir for creative expression, so very little cognitive analysis is used. It just flows! Every album jacket is personally hand-autographed.
