notes
Richard Hubbell started playing trumpet when he was eight years old. At sixteen he took up guitar while in his home town of Waikiki, Hawaii. At seventeen his father was transfered to Fort Bragg with the Army. It was there he joined the band, "The Gay Notes". This Band was made up of U.S. soldiers with the 82nd Airborne Division Band and were very accomplished musicians. They took Richard under their wing and tought him to play top 40 music of the early 60's.
Richard was drafted in 1965 during the Vietnam era and honorably discharged in 1967. He then used his GI bill to major in music in Charlotte, N.C. While in College he played house gigs and one nighters with blues, country, rock, and disco bands.
In 1977 he formed a six piece show band called,"X-Caliber" and worked ten states in the eastern U.S. Working with the top talent agencies the band opened for the Original Platters, Billy Scott and the Proffets, The Embers, The Poor Souls, and many other "Beach Bands".
Richard is now working mostly in the Carolinas in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Richard has recorded many styles of music as you will see on this album.
