Hey Everyone!

I wrote this album written to be performed by an 80 piece orchestra.

I couldn't get an orchestra to play my music, so I had to sample my handwritten scores in order for them to come to life. Purchasing the CD will help support me in my direction to get a real orchestra to play my music.

I appreciate everyone's support! You all mean so much to me.

The album, titled 'I.I', is a 50 minute score consisting of 12 compositions that can stand on their own, but are ultimately part of a whole. The first piece 'Prelude' introduces the melodies of the next 11 compositions, which then gently interweave in and out of each other, even hinting at the compositions in my next album.

I began writing the score in March 2005, completed by April 2006, and then had a product with no one to perform it. When the idea of using samples occured to me, I was unsure but excited.

I wanted the music to appeal to those who just want to sit, relax, and not have to 'think' when listening to an orchestra.

'I.I' consists of 7 orchestral, 2 piano, and 3 string quartet pieces - an album that fuses beautiful melodies with crushing roars. Having all orchestral pieces would have been ineffective. You need peaks and valleys. It makes the pianos whisper, and the fortissimos roar.

The response has been incredible. I hope to release some demos for the next CD at a later point. That's where the real fun starts - everything developes (Truly, I'm extremely excited about it. I'm Psyched!).

Thanks guys for everything. I'll keep you all posted.

Best.

Walt has been featured in Don’t Magazine in London, England,
Upstage Magazine, interviewed by Rob Lardie, the features editor for Canada’s CD Reviews By You, and been acclaimed by Kevin Alfoldy of Lostatsea.com : “Probably one of the more interesting things I’ve received.”

Walt Ribeiro: “The CD’s success is not due to the music alone. I have a great time doing what I do, and people resonate to that.”

“I didn’t want to polish the recording too much - flaws create realism. I just wanted to keep it simple, powerful, and sounding natural. I felt in an orchestral setting that volume automation or compression would have killed the realism of the instruments. Acoustically, there’s certain information being created when an attack is strengthened or weakened - anyone will tell you that dynamics make the piece come alive.”

WALT RIBEIRO BIOGRAPHY

Ribeiro started playing guitar at 16, he worked hard on his playing technique, transcribing, and arranging. As his works improved and the technology developed, Walt believed that his vision could become reality. “It’s challenging being an independent musician and wanting people to experience your music and feel for it in the same way you do. I needed a vehicle to let people hear my works.”

Having studied both locally in Camden County and at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, he developed his skills in MIDI orchestration and production. Walt is also an accomplished teacher of over a hundred students – with lessons ranging from orchestration and ear training to guitar and recording techniques. “You don’t know something well enough unless you can teach it to somebody, and that’s where I learned things the most, was through my students.”

So sit back and listen, for your ear is an incredible instrument. You may even hear melodies from I.II, who knows.

I knew "classical" music was still being written but it's taken a very long time for something new to sound good to me. Thank you for this. It's huge.

  • I can't stop listening to this CD

I can't help but just put on this CD, close my eyes, and just imagine. I don't know much about music but this CD is so visual! I like how its not purely 'classical', too. An 80 piece orchestra! I walk around all day humming these tunes. Definetly check this CD out.

  • Awesome. I can't wait until the next one.

From start to finish this CD is incredible. I heard about Walt through a friend of mine in Philadelphia. Its unbelievable that he wrote all this music! I love the sound of the orchestra, and it's great that he didn't have all orchestral pieces - it makes it flow better. This CD is very melodic, visual, and fresh!

  • Powerful. One of the more interesting and beautiful CD's I've heard

Probably one of the more interesting things I've seen while at Lost At Sea. I wasn't aware that anyone was even making 'classical' music these days. I definetly have to take my hat off to Walt for doing his own thing and producing a CD in this day and age that has all of the beauty and complexity of what some would consider a lost artform.

  • One of the best cds ive heard in awhile

Powerful and moving music!!! Truly a work of art from an amazing artist. In a music world full of emo and poppy regrugated bullshit, its good to see and hear from a true artist. 5 stars!!! I look foward to watching and hearing whats next!
