notes
When the Rhythm Rats first got together in 1988 for a campground session at a little festival in Warren County, Ohio, they discovered a common passion for the "wild and beautiful old fiddle tunes, driving dance music, ballads, banjo songs, and mountain blues" that we call old-time music. That session when on until nearly dawn. It wasn't long before they were meeting every week for sessions which evolved into bona fide band practices.
In the summer of '92 Larry MacBride of Marimac Recordings approached them while at an old-time music festival near Clifftop, West Virginia, and suggested that they think about recording a project. So it was that in May of the following year they all met at Larry's in Crown Point, Indiana, and spent a weekend recording in his basement studio.
This is the CD reissue of that recording made way back in 1992, which was originally released on cassette. It received glowing reviews within the old-time community back then, and is still talked about reverently. Now it's available again, and sounds just as good as ever.
