notes
Revolve have been brewing in the Los Angeles Underground for a couple of years now, developing an electric strain of Rock. A four-piece in all, the members of Revolve stem from Japan, Germany as well as the U.S., adding a cultural diversity to their material. The band's diverse influences include variants of electronic and rock music ranging from, trance, drum'n'bass and ambient dub, to metal, progressive rock and ethnic music. Other sources of inspiration for Revolve's musical expression are various philosophers and visionaries. Through their unique blend of philosophy and harmony, Revolve invites the listener on a shamanic journey celebrating the mystery of existence.

I truly believe that REVOLVE is the best indie album of the year...
author: M JoelWith the news of this band's recent breakup, I quickly sent in the order for it in hopes that I would be one of the lucky ones to recieve the cd before it was out of print and no longer sold. Thankfully I was, and I am so glad that I own REVOLVE's cd, because I truly believe that this is the best indie album of the year I have come across. Why? Simply because the musicianship is nothing short of perfection, and the lyrics as well as melodies of the songs are very intelligent and visionary in scale and attitude. Yes, music can have attitude, sadly many recent artists fall short of the ability to create a unique attitude and make it work, but Revolve somehow pulled it off. Perhaps it is because of the lead vocalist, Matthew Manning, has a voice with so much raw power and beauty that it gives you chills. It could possiboly be because Koichi Fukuda has the gift to create sounds that you would not think possible to come from a guitar. Maybe it's Bernhard Guenther's drumming ability, or Ryan Collier's dynamic bass playing that brings the magic to the band. But I think it is a combination of all the musicans, plus the additional keyboard and sampling that comes together to bring something truly magical to the indie prog scene. Revolve is more than just another indie prog band that sounds like a clone of Tool. Revolve is something much more..... something unique, and bold. Their message along with their brilliant musical genious makes them my top pick for this year as I search for more potential saviors of modern music.
