Nobby Reed Project ~ " Hold The Truth "
The Nobby Reed Project , Vermont's premiere blues trio , released
it's sixth studio CD last week. It features a generous 16 songs and
is the first to be totally recorded at Nobby's new Beneath The Living
Room Studio.
The CD opens with the rousing and extremely positive title track...
"Hold The Truth". Affirming the fact that only each of us holding
on the faith holds the truth.
Track 2..."It's Myself"...a personal favorite, is a strong message
to face the fact that we are our own worst enemy ! Bravo Nobby for
having the courage to state this fact !
"Sliding" is a tour de force of Nobby's bottle neck guitar prowess.
"Mr. Sun"...a slow blues is a powerhouse lament, strong on guitar
solos and plaintiff vocals.
"Let Go"...another favorite is very biographical and expresses
Nobby's feelings about what his music means to him and what he hopes
it does for his listeners.
"Winterwind" a second instrumental, is awash with icy processed
drums and liquid guitar tones. This CD once again incorporates
keyboards...with Nobby himself playing synthesizers.
"Black Raven"...the CD's next song, takes the project down a new and
very adventurous path(with Nobby performing all parts). Featuring heavily processed vocals, guitar
textures and synth one sees Nobby stretch forward yet, very retro to
the psychedelic blues of 1967-68.
"Blues Is Raining" another up tempo number once again features Nobby
playing some mean slide guitar...Hot Licks abound on this fun tune!
"Save My Soul" shows off just how tight the current line-up of the
project is ! Augmented by Raymond Bushey on Bass and long standing
member...Eric Belrose on drums, Nobby Reed Project is a force to be
reckoned with...witnessed at the projects recent opening for April
Wine where Miles Goodwin acknowledged the trios opening set.
This disc concludes with the haunting instrumental "Last
Winter". It's another of my favorites .
All in all, "Hold The Truth" is a very interesting journey thru
sonic complexities and masterful playing on the part of every Project member!
Nobby, Ray and Eric can be proud of their efforts. It is no wonder
that NRP has fans world wide thanks to distribution of their CD's
over the Internet. They are truly Vermont's Premier Blues Band
! It's wonderful to see someone fulfilling their dream !
Look for the Project at many summer festivals and events throughout
the Northeast. You won't be sorry to make the trip and experience
"Hold The Truth" live in concert.

Nobby Reed Projects new CD "Hold The Truth" Spreads The Truth
author: Jeff ChapmanThis CD spreads the truth that Nobby Reeds guitar virtuosity ontop of the the rock solid rythem of Eric Belrose and Ray Bushey is a unique brand of inspiring and versatile blues. This CD really showcases the depth and breadth of NRPs artistic capabilities. Southern blues slides on Sliding, Classic blues interpretations on Martin Luther and Open Wide, modern interpretations on Winterland this CD has alot to offer. Nobby demonstrates his mastery of Albert King licks to 60s wah rifts plus his own lightning fast runs. Some of my personal favorites are the Title track Hold The Truth, Let Go, Martin Luther, Open Wide and Million Dollars (Great Harmony Vocals by Ray). A must have for NRP fans and a great first choice for soon to become NRP fans.
NRP "Hold The Truth" is a blues treat!
author: Dave RakvicaNRP's 6th release and latest effort "Hold The Truth" reveals the Vermont trio's mastery of a wide range of blues styles and delivers the goods with a generous helping of 16 songs. Whether the listener enjoys contemporary or retro blues, this CD has it all. The title track Hold The Truth instantly grabs the listener with its tight groove. Slidin once again shows the guitar wizardry of Nobby Reed and his unique ability to master any blues genres such a slide guitar in this selection. The CD is a journey that mixes delicate instrumentals with hard driving Texas blues as well as traditional foot stompin' blues. Mr. Reed ingeniously mixes voice effects on Black Raven and Martin Luther without losing the music's message. Nobby Reed's song writing, and vocals have matured with time to perfectly match his gift to play guitar. The project's new line up adds the necessary rhythmn support to bring this album home to the listener. Definitely infectious, & delightful making you crave more.
Another Great CD from Nobby Reed!
author: Tom BasiliereThe Nobby Reed Project has done it again! Another GREAT CD. I think I have all his CDs and I This is one of the Best! If you like the Blues and like to dance, you should have this CD in your collection. It's Awesome! Bazz
Another sparkling collection from Nobby; top-notch songwriting.
author: Stev BoudreauThis is the best CD yet from NRP - over 70 minutes of Nobby's unique upbeat blues, featuring dazzling guitar work, as always, backed by the solid rhythm section of Eric and Ray. Nobby's songwriting talents are prominent on this release - whether it's a fiery instrumental or a slow blues lament, these songs rank among the best being produced by anyone on the blues music scene today. The healing power of the blues, and of music in general, is a theme connecting many of the songs. HEY, WHY AREN'T THESE GUYS' TALENTS MORE WIDELY RECOGNIZED?
