notes

THE ROBBIE DUCEY BAND HAVE COLLECTIVELY PERFORMED AROUND THE SOUTHLANDS SINCE THE LATE SIXTIES. RDB RELEASED THEIR FIRST CD "THE EDGE OF REALITY" IN 1995 WITH HEARTY ACCEPTANCE. THE BREEZE RADIO NETWORK GAVE THE GROUP ALOT OF AIRPLAY ON THE EAST COAST,OFTEN AS ARTIST PICK OF THE MONTH.THE "EDGE"CD ALSO PLAYED WELL IN THE MACON,GA.RADIO AREA,WHICH IS A HARD ROW TO HOE. RDB TOOK A BREAK IN 1998 AFTER LOOSING THEIR ORIGINAL DRUMMER,BUT PICKED THINGS UP AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER 2002. IN JULY 2003 THE BAND RECORDED THE NEW CD "DOWN RIGHT DIRTY SHAME"AND RELEASED IT IN MARCH 2004.ROBBIE AND THE GUYS ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF THE NEW CD. IT COVERS ALOT OF MUSICAL GROUND AND SEPERATES ITSELF FROM MOST OTHER CONTEMPORARY BLUES RECORDINGS BY OFFERING MOSTLY ORIGINAL SONGS.THE EXCEPTION BEING A KICKING SHUFFLE VERSION OF "YOU AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A HOUND-DOG".GIVE THIS CD A LISTEN AND IF YOU GET A CHANCE GO SEE RDB LIVE.ROBBIE WILL SHAKE YOU UP WITH HIS SINGING,HIS GUITAR STYLE WITH INCREDABLE SOUNDS, AND HIS SMOKIN'BAND.IF YOU MISS THIS GROUP IT WOULD BE A "DOWN RIGHT DIRTY SHAME".

  • Had a chance to catch RDB "live" in Greenville, SC... awesome!!

Had a chance to catch this artist in downtown Greenville, SC down by the river... his playing live was smooth & inspired... Picked up a copy of the CD... it doesn't disappoint. The strat sound reminds me at times of Chris Duarte, SRV and other's but after a listen he's a bonafied original... check it out!! Where was the keyboard player though... some of the cd tracks feature key's... I think if I remember right maybe the bass player doubled on key's. A full-time keyboard would be a great addition then for live shows :) My favorite track is "Could It Be That I've Wasted My Time" Give me some a that Hot-Sauce... this is some hot-pickn'!

  • Hard to find it this good!

I hear beaucoup contemporary blues recordings, but few this satisfying. Surprisingly full for a trio. Showcases Ducey's broad guitar style and soulful, honest vocals. The rhythm section nails every tune. Obviously career musicians who have settled into playing what they like. My Sweet Angel kills me... Hound Dog done as a shuffle is a close second. Makes me wanna book these guys.

  • EXCELLENT!!!!!

I love the Robbie Ducey Band, I always enjoy hearing them play, they have a great mix of music that everyone can get down to!! My favorite off his new cd is "could it be I've wasted my time" thats the kinda song that you want to put the top down and crank it up!

  • I Absolutely Love It !!!
    author: D.H.

I don't know where Robbie has been hiding, but it's obvious he's been rocking the blues for some time. These are great blues/rockers from a band that knows what they're doing. There is a rare blend of raw power and polished performance here that really sets this cd apart. Favorites; the catchy "I'm Tired" and a great slowed-down blusy treatment of "hounddog". I highly recommend this one.
