notes

Davies and Lampard perform as their alter egos Rock Chick & Science Geek in a show called Science Rocks where high energy rock songs and some seriously explosive science meet to entertain and inspire.
“It’s an interactive, scientific rock concert”, said Lampard.
“We get to blow stuff up and sing rock songs at the same time. It’s brilliant fun.”

Their show sold out in seven days as part of this year’s Something on Saturday program and Kids Cabaret section of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival at the Adelaide Festival Centre.

Lampard is best known throughout Australia as the science host of the Channel 9 children’s program Y? and has also appeared onstage in Adelaide in a few professional musicals.
“I’ve been trying to think of a way to combine my music career with my science career for a long time ”, said Lampard.
“And then it hit me that the best way to do that would be with Rock music and that Susi’s salty style would fit the project perfectly.”

Davies and her band Salty recently released their debut album Just Because to a sell out crowd and have toured nationally supporting artists such as Sophie B Hawkins and Katie Noonan.
“It’s been a fantastic challenge to write scientific rock songs for kids”, said Davies.
“My favourite song has to be the Prince inspired Boy in the Bubble song. We sing about how cool bubbles are and then actually put a boy in a bubble.”
“And it was great fun creating a punk rock version of Old McDonald’s farm where the barnyard animals are played by a range of strange scientific instruments.”

Plus they create smoky air doughnuts, sing a country and western song about water molecules and blow stuff up.
