DEDICATE TO THE MEMORY OF MY MOTHER,
“MRS. ESSIE LEE HERD”
I was born Raymond Eugene Herd in Houston, Texas on
June 6, 1955, and raised in Barrett Station, Crosby, Texas.
I finished high school in 1974, and have been singing since I was 8 years old, and I was raised in a large family 6 boys and 3 girls.
This CD album was a long hard project, dedicated to my mother, who has went home to glory, “Mrs. Essie Lee Herd”. This album features many of her favorites, and truly want to thank the many people who help with this project, including my family.

“Mr.Gene Stewart” of The Legendary Soul Stirrers, for helping me make this possible by recording this CD and performing music and background vocals.
Most of all, I want to give thanks to God, who is the head of my life. For blessing me to be able to have my health and strength, and being of sound mind, to do this……

just a closer walk with thee
author: lynette walkerthis song is very inspiring, this is the type of singing that brings back the old gospel of yesterday. With the sam cooke, and the soul stirrers . but there is something different about RAYE his voice is so touching and unique.
