notes
Jen Rathbun is a singer/songwriter based out of Houston, TX. Not the usual Texas musician, Jen totes a keyboard, rather than a guitar. Although she loves Texas music, her infleuences range from Tori Amos to the Beatles. Her songs cover a wide variety of topics, from driving, to dating, and even to eating cereal.
Jen's new studio CD, Beautiful Day, is a unique blend of up-beat, orchestral, and acoustic music. Bouncy rhythms, smooth vocals, and attention-grabbing arrangements provide ear-candy and entertainment for the listener. Beautiful Day is destined to become a favorite for listeners in search of a special balance between the extremes of deep introspection and happy-go-lucky fun. Listen to her music and see for yourself. You, too, will become another Jen Rathbun fan.

Something Different
author: TSIf you're looking for a big rap hit or the next rockin' pop song, this music isn't for you. However, if you're looking for quirky, meaningful songs, songs that engage the brain and yes, even use multi-syllable words, then you've come to the right place. You can't dance to'em, but you can and should listen to them. These are life story songs that will take you from laughing to crying and back again. You might expect to hear these songs in a musical or a movie. In fact the closest comparison I have is the Aimee Mann songs from the movie Magnolia. Sit down in a quiet place and give'em a listen….
Good effort
author: Sylvia L.After listen to "Beautiful Day" I think most of these songs are writen well. Some are cute and some seem to feather well to the ear. There could be a bit more aggression in style and also in her techinique. That is what lacks in this effort. Over all, this is a good effort and deems 2 stars in overall listening pleasure.
